Leadership: learning for and from the future

Leadership is one of the most debated practice with many theories ranging from pure management to leadership seen as coaching process. The recent years have seen the rise of several models that look into the personal characteristics of leaders as a way to be more inclusive and to have a sustainable impact in their environment and society, especially in youth work. The course "Leadership: learning for and from the future" looks into cutting-edge leadership theories and adapt them to the youth work context in order to provide youth workers with tools necessary to create innovative youth project in line with a fast-moving society. In particular the course will: - support the discovery of each individual’s plurality of intelligences - design strategies for integrating the plurality of intelligences into the organisation’s leadership practice - explore the cutting edge leadership theories – relevant for the youth work contexts in Europe - that tap on creativity, innovation and sustainability - look at personal learning biographies and strengthen youth leaders life-long and life wide learning abilities - provide a reference framework and techniques for the transition into sustainable leadership The course will be based on a combination of the following methodological approaches and learning theories: experiential learning, non formal learning, constructivism approach and Theory U. The 6 days residential course is addressed to 20 youth workers active in youth organisations from France, Austria, The Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Greece and Turkey. The project's partners are interested in: - developing the leadership of their organisation - looking for learning opportunities that can help the young leaders they are working with in making as step forward in their personal lives and in the life of the communities they are part of - wiling to engage their youth workers and their organisation in a learning journey with colleagues from all over Europe - contributing to the advancement of youth work in Europe and the recognition of new approaches to youth leadership The course will take place in Dinard, Chateau Hébert, from 11th to 15th May 2015.
