Language Training
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The immanent implementation of a dynamic new national policy called 1 + 2 languages has prompted our school to seek a mobility course to help build the skills and knowledge of teaching staff who deliver modern languages. The training offered by this mobility course will enable one applicant to embed both target languages in the school. The project will also help build links with other schools and bring a European dimension to the context of learning a modern language together with an opportunity to create joint global citizenship projects both within the UK and abroad. The courses would also provide the opportunity to develop exciting and interactive languages lessons using the latest ICT resources which could then be cascaded down to colleagues in the school and beyond through in-service training. The methodology for achieving a wide ranging social mobility from sending one applicant on a course will be developed through establishing a working group. This group will be responsible for disseminating learning and teaching methodologies gained on the course into a timed and phased plan that can be imparted to other teaching colleagues, This will also be coupled by whole school activities to promotes languages in a fun and meaningful context. These activities will then be opened out to other teachers in the wider authority. Whole school events will be promoted at an authority led level through learning festivals our school can share good practice at a city wide forum led by the Chief Executive of Education. The impact will be experienced in the first instance by 295 children and 30 staff but has the potential to be wider reaching , using the events described above, to include hundred of children and staff across the city, particular through the school website and a nation wide education portal called GLOW. Our development plan has scheduled in-service courses for teaching staff to develop their skills. Ultimately this project will lead to greater confidence and ability to teach Modern Foreign Languages. This in turn will increase the motivation and engagement in modern languages and Improve teaching methodology for languages within our school. The longer term advantages will be be a greater cultural awareness and understanding of the benefits of learning a modern language and starting at a younger age thus increasing the exposure of Scottish children in primary schools to one or more languages embedded as a cornerstone of curriculum
