Language Training
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our primary school is a very proactive and progressive school, whose aim is to provide children with the best education possible. We keep up with the latest trends and developments in education and we are always one of the first schools to implement new initiatives. We are very enthusiastic about implementing a whole school approach to language learning. Our objectives are to provide children with the necessary language skills to help him/her with language learning in secondary school and to enhance awareness of and openness to other cultures. We are happy to have a member of staff who is interested in implementing this program for us. With her experience of living and studying in France and her experience in teaching French to 5th and 6th class pupils in other schools, we believe she is the best candidate to undertake this activity. Some of the activities we will organise throughout the whole school are; Language Week at the beginning of the in school year to motivate pupils and another at the end of the year to celebrate the achievements of children involved in the language lessons, a Language and Culture Day: celebrate Mardi Gras and an invitation to interested and relevant parties into the school to talk about their experiences. Media to promote these activities. Skype, video-conferencing, epals to communicate with French primary school. These activities will have a very positive impact on the children in the school and the wider community. We believe that the children will become more proficient language learners in the future, it will effect them positively linguistically, academically and socially, learning another language will lead to an enhanced awareness of and openness to other languages and cultures. The wider community will be more aware of activities happening outside their own country, they will have a wider knowledge of the world around them, this will lead to a improved social and cultural cohesion within the school and it's community. People will be more curious about other languages and cultures and may want to travel and experience other cultures more. They will be more open and tolerant of other cultures. In the longer term, Ireland's competence in modern languages will no longer be lower than that at European level, also there will be greater opportunities for those with European language skills in international services and work places.
