I feel that an immersion course would be most suitable for me. I need to re-coup lost linguistic skills and become more aware of current teaching methods (in particular in relation to advances in ICT). I have discussed this with the Head Teacher who is in support of my proposal. The course provider has provided confirmation (by email) of a provisional place on the identified course. I have identified this project in order to further my personal development in the teaching of MFL for the following reasons. I need to re-coup lost linguistic skills and become more aware of current teaching methods (in particular in relation to advances in ICT). I have discussed this with the Head Teacher who is in support of my proposal. I have had email confirmation of a provisional place on the French Immersion Course in Lyon, France. Specifically I hope to gain the following: Language competency Improved teaching skills Improve vocabulary Gain new ideas and materials for use in the classroom Enhance methodological expertise in the teaching of the target language to teenagers. Use ICT, songs, media and other authentic resources in the teaching of the target language. Feel confident enough to debate current issues and discuss contemporary personalities. Acquire greater confidence in teaching French Anticipated learning outcomes will be: Greater confidence in teaching MFL Greater cultural awareness which can be transferred to pupils Improve teaching methodology for languages within the school. Embed target language within the school Use target language for teaching the language Put new resources on shared drive within the school to help learning and teaching throughout school. In addition this will have further reaching outcomes: Raise awareness of importance of languages and Europe within school to parents and student alike. Raise awareness within the family of schools of better teaching methods and resources. Motivate students by new resources in order to enhance their enjoyment of the learning of MFL. More confident in the speaking the language will enhance students' listening skills. Increase European links with other Secondary schools.
