Language of peace
Date du début: 1 janv. 2015, Date de fin: 31 janv. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project was developed by our organization to support development of youth movement in the local community of city Yoshkar-Ola and Republic of Mari El. The aim of this project is to promote international volunteering, especially through EVS. Invitation of a foreign volunteer, a bearer of a different culture, will help to create multicultural and stereotype-breaking environment on actions, aimed at regional civil society development. One volunteer from Italy experienced will carry out the language club for volunteers, together with the hosting organization will organize a summer camp for children with disadvantage social background and a training\workshops for pupils and students of Yoshkar-Ola. We would like to show that among the youth there are people who are not indifferent to social live and volunteering as a way for development an active citizenship. The majority of population in the republic - young people from disadvantaged backgrounds as consequence usually they migrate to another Russian cities, because they are not really interested in the social life of Mari El. We are sure that young people working together like at own home will show a good example for the locals and it will help to popularize volunteering in Mari El. We think that the sole fact of foreigners, volunteers coming to a small village is already attractive to the locals, mainly the younger generation, who would be more interested in volunteering themselves. On the other hand examples of good practice would help to stimulate nature protection actions in rural areas. International volunteers could give us a possibility to be more open to the world and to put more emphasis on the European importance of the project. This should be important to small host organizations, where due to lack of experience, they can not participate in the new Erasmus + program. Andrea is very important for our project as a volunteer. One difficulty experienced by social institutions is that the children do not have enough contact with society. Teaching staff and caregivers in orphanages are mostly women of middle and old age. So the great example of a young foreign volunteer, who came to help children and represent his country, culture and traditions, will positively influence children who have complex lives. In addition, the volunteering example set by a young volunteer, who came from Italy to work with difficult target groups will have a positive impact on local children, encouraging them to become prospective volunteers in the community and attract more attention to the problems of youth and citizenship in Mari El.
