Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The present international CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) project is dedicated to Tallinn Pae School integrated subject and language immersion programs and its improvement. One of the main priorities of Tallinn Pae School is the development of integrated subject and language (hereafter CLIL) methods upgrades and expansion as well as increasing immersion classes teachers motivation. CLIL methodology in recent years has been wide-ranging repercussions throughout the educational landscape. However, European schools did not have any of the forms of cooperation and exchange of experiences. According to various studies, it could be argued that CLIL methods promote social integration and reduces educational inequalities. Conforming to Estonian, as well as the European level, it is acknowledged in official communities but has not reached school-level collaboration yet. Close cooperation with a number of schools and institutions in Estonia makes Pae School an active partner, but we can also see the need in acquiring knowledge of international practices and methodologies in the field of CLIL. In the years 2012-2013 Tallinn Pae School led the process of internal evaluation which revealed Tallinn Pae School areas for improvement. In agreement with the outcome the school sets new goals in the following area: - to introduce our school CLIL experiences to a wider spectrum of teachers to get their critical feedback from our school / teacher experience. - to increase teachers inner motivation working in immersion classes and the belief that they are doing "the right thing" and that it is not only the intra-Estonian, but also common European priority. - to develop an in-school supporting CLIL program among the immersion experienced teachers to share their experiences and support new teachers in the adaptation and development of CLIL methods. On one hand, it is important for cooperation between the experienced and the new immersion program teachers but on the other hand, we have to ensure the cooperation between the various school level immersion program teachers. - to modernize and possibly supplement CLIL methodology taking into account European schools, teachers and theorists practices. Tallinn Pae School immersion experience is on a quite high level in Estonia. However, we acknowledge that this area will depend on the further development of cooperation with institutions abroad. We believe that international cooperation can help to significantly improve areas for improvement. Tallinn Pae School intends to carry out the project activities in two academic years. The project objectives will depend on the cooperation between partners. The main partner is Finnish ITÄ-SUOMEN SUOMALAIS-VENÄLÄINEN school, which has already held a long-term bilingual education. Close cooperation with Finnish colleagues will give us an opportunity to learn and gain experience in CLIL and acquire new skills that can later be used in our school development. The UK training center "International Study Programs" can also be regarded as a partner which organizes several courses in the CLIL discussions. The project involves all 20 immersion program teachers of Tallinn Pae School and a highly significant role in various stages of immersion teachers play school coordinators. The project main activities are: a job-shadowing week in Finland of three of our teachers, two weeks for two of humanities and sciences teachers training in the UK, three weeks teaching job-shadowing and teaching in Finland and Tallinn Pae School teacher / leadership involvement in CLIL conference in Germany. The final result must programs to supplement and support the immersion program in Tallinn Pae School as well as the modernization of the system. The expected impact of the project is diverse and durable: - increasing teachers' awareness of the Tallinn Pae School in CLIL methodology and skills for CLIL methods. - developing an in-school CLIL mentor program support which is organized by coordination teachers. - improving cooperation between immersion program teachers working on various school levels. - improving the school's academic quality, as CLIL methodology expands and increases teachers motivation and awareness. - positive impact on the school's reputation as an international dimension to European experience, and enhance the school's openness and confidence. - Tallinn Pae School increases the reliability of the immersion in parents' eyes. The project has all the prerequisites in order to bring positive changes to school life.
