Lagoons as crossroads for tourism and interaction of peoples of South-East Baltic: from the history to present (CROSSROADS 2.0) (ILPR.02.01.00-96-001/10-00)

The overall objective of the project is the improvement of attractiveness and competitiveness of Lithuania-Poland-Kaliningrad region cross-border area adjacent to the Curonian and Vistula lagoons in order to raise tourist inflow. Achievements: 1. Open air museum is constructed in Kaliningrad (Russia), museum in Neringa municipality is renovated (Lithuania), technical documentation for open air museums developed in Lithuania and Poland – with their further inclusion into network of Baltic open-air museums. 2. Recommendations for making proposals to the local SME centres to conduct business in the coastal area of Curonian and Vistula lagoons are developed. 3. Interactive tourist products (events) forming the unique image of the lagoon area (Viking epoch) are developed in Poland, Russia and Lithuania. 4. New cross-border tourist routes within Curonian and Vistula lagoons are elaborated and tested by Klaipeda University. 5. Guides, interpreters and museum workers from Vistula and Curonian lagoon area are trained and certified under the tourism agency of Kaliningrad region (Russia). 6. Tutorial for guides and interpreters working within lagoon area is issued in 4 languages by Baltic Federal University (Russia). 7. The Master level course (academic value 4,5 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) to increase qualification of guides and interpreters is elaborated and included into curricula of tourism and services faculties of Klaipeda University (Lithuania) and Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Russia). 8. Two updated exhibitions "Lagoons and crossroads" and "Maritime Cultural landscape" are organized in Poland and Lithuania by Kaliningrad regional Museum of History and Arts. 9. Two catalogues Cultural and historical heritage objects located in the cross-border area of Lithuania, Poland and Kaliningrad region of Russia adjacent to the Curonian and Vistula lagoons and Traditions of the peoples of the cross-border area of Lithuania, Poland and Kaliningrad region of Russia adjacent to the Curonian and Vistula lagoons issued in 4 languages and distributed between tourist agencies, authorities and tourism information centres of project area. 10. The Common Strategy and Action Plan on conservation and sustainable use of natural, cultural and historical heritage of cross-border area of Lithuania, Poland and Kaliningrad region of Russia adjacent to the Curonian and Vistula lagoons elaborated by European Found for Monument Protection and approved by authorities of the project area. 11. Students and academicians from Polish Maritime Museum, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Russia), Klaipeda University (Lithuania) and Scientific Association Pruthenia from Polish town Olsztyn obtained new knowledge and exchanged information about common historical and cultural heritage of cross-border area. 12. Two books Tales, Myths and legends of Ancient Prussia and "Peoples of the South-Eastern Baltic in the Viking epoch" issued in 4 languages.
