Claude Garamont vocational high school has been labeled "lycée des métiers" (college of competencies) since 2010 and this label has just been extended until 2010. Located in Colombes in the surburb of Paris, this high school is specialized in Graphic design and graphic industries (the graphic chai). Soon the school will add a new skill with finishing and routing. This high school includes a European section (graphic design section) that demands more and more smatering of English. it also requires a better cultural backgroung to reinforce new ways of communication. Besides our students must adapt to a changing globalized world and enhance their CVs with professionnal experiences outside France. All this will enable them to improve their skills in many ways.Educationnal goals will also be achieved through a training period within th European community. In the European section students have the benefit of 2 extra hours for their English course. That also includes English coursesin the Graphic design syllabus. They went to London for 5 days and discoverd British artists in several Museums and took pictures for the scenery or background of their future video about Oliver Twist.Back in France, the different graphic and photographic investigations have been used in a graphic design projectTheir participation and investment in those different situations are significant indicators to help us forsee a selection of potential participants. A year before the mobility, all the students of the European section(24) showed their involvement by undergoing a motivation test in order to determin who was ready for an internship abroad of 4 weeks in 2017. This year, 12 of them and their families are willing to go.For those who are concerned, this motivation test and a contract between the Lycée and the family has been signed. One training week will be organized right before they go. And this training week will be for all the 24 students of the section. Then some of them will go on internsip in Ireland while the others will stay in France. This week is thought as a week of complete linguistic, cultural and professionnal immersion. Different workshops will be organized by teachers and people speaking but English. They will be different according to the "irish group" or the "French group".They will be linked, if possible, to extra activities such as going to a movie, theater, visit of institutional organisation, or Museum, an art gallery (always in English of course!).The 4 following weeks will take place for our 12 students in Cork (Ireland).A sketch book is recommendedand will be filled with drawings, sketches, notes concerning personal discoveries in Cork (people, monument, tradition…) other notes will concern their internship report. They were given a brief to write it down (in English) and wil be able to interview people at work.During their training period, they will elaborate and realize graphic design projects, or artistic …They will be using computers but alos traditionnal graphic and artists' tools in order to create illustrations, layout of a poster or of a flyer .During his internship, the student can also fill in a personnal "carnet de voyage" in wich he will write, draw, stick things he discovers…Teachers in charge will be a permanent contact with the local partner to give advise concerning the placement of our students.Contracts with partners will be made in 3 copies (with approval and signature). Two teachers will be on the spot to install our students on the first week and to assess them during the last week of the training period. We assume that positive results will be reached during this period such as a better fluency in English, the European dimension linked to their diploma, a new motivation for further studies (Univesity, BTS…) and a consciousness of being part of Europe. We do think that our project is an undeniable asset for the students to be more responsible in many ways. Self involvement abroad is the challenge of the whole thing. This first contact with our euro-partner will enable us to improve our educationnal schemes in the near future. In the long run, participants will be able to have a real professionnal involvement. Our student belong to a priority schooling area so the challenge is all the more interesting and accurate.
