The vocational school Vincent de Paul welcomes 834 students. It offers professional training in the following areas: administrative, business and trade, health, fashion and safety, from the 4th form Preparatory to vocational training, up to the vocational high school diploma (BETEC National), via vocational certificate. The school has been labeled "vocational school in administrative, business and trade training" since 2004. This accreditation was renewed in July 2015 and complemented with the title of “Vocational school in Sewing , Fashion, in Administrative and Business and in home care and self-catering”Our students come to vocational school after a chaotic school career, often from disadvantaged backgrounds. The school also welcomes 23 students with disabilities within the “ULIS” program. Feeling very much concerned with still high rates of absenteeism and dropping out, our challenge together with the students is to identify the main instruments that could make the situation change. Among solutions is the European mobility that gives employment opportunities because the students can improve their professional skills, their adaptability and their autonomy. Indeed many of the students want to go on with their studies thanks to the experience.European mobility is seen as rewarding and puts these students on a path of excellence.To reach all our sections, three 4-week work placements are planned for early 2017:England : 8 students, among them 1 from the “ULIS” scheme and 3 adults, among them 1 who will stay during the whole period on the side of the ”ULIS” student.Spain: 8 students and 2 adults.Italy: 8 students and 2 adults.Partnerships were signed with different associations "Center for Creativity and Enterprise / Joining Hands”, the University “Hospital of Sevillia "Virgen del Rocio", the Italian association "Tempo Libero".This project is entirely in line with the academic policy and consistent with the establishment of the High School Project including international opening.Mobility aims to make the students: - Meet other ways of living, exchange about other cultures, share a new everyday life abroad.- Exchange on professional practices, on management and (social) law and regulation.- Become more expert in their job, and be able to innovate in their practices.- Exchange and learn about sustainable development issues.- Improve their professional language practice.- Compare different habits, learn and understand what is "living together".- Increase their employability in a regional context, where tourism focuses on the ability to practice foreign languages, and where mobility plays a vital role in the professional integration.- Be aware of their capacity for autonomy and self-reliance.- Be them aware that the job market is looking for more and more dynamical and mobile people, mastering a foreign language.Their choice to be candidates in a European class, proves a real motivation for such an experience and a desire for openness to Europe. Indeed these students have to follow 2 more one-hour courses all year long.For the students concerned to get a European vocational high school diploma, it is a real pride and achievement. This success has a deep impact on the institution and the students attending the courses.This professional experience abroad will allow them to obtain the following certificates:EUROPASS MOBILITY as a proof of their experience abroad.EUROPRO, as a proof of their ability to testify their European mobility and European reference, in an oral and written work.When back in France students will be able to take 2 more examinations related to their diploma (“Epreuve spécifique “and “Unité facultative de Mobilité”) which will enhance and highlight their curriculum.Moreover our vocational high school is in a labeling sustainable development approach. The internship abroad is an extension of this project.Indeed partner companies train students for sustainable actions and habits that contribute to sustainable development and consumption (sorting, recycling ink cartridges, medicines, clothing, school supplies).They also inform students of the use of funds raised.For teachers, this experience will enable them to know the professional practices abroad, to share experiences with experts, to enrich themselves personally and professionally.A steering committee, which is composed of teachers of vocational education who teach DNL, as well as teachers in foreign language and a member of the school board of directors, meets regularly.The steering committee ensures the implementation of the project (methodology, specifications, scheduling, creating supports), it regulates (monitoring of budgets) it also gives assessments (implementation tools) and aims to ensure communication (Rectorat, Regional Council, local authorities, businesses, host partners, families, media and high school web site.) It collects and inputs the Erasmus + project.
