PROJET
TERMINÉ
This consortium concerned three schools in Reims regional education authority.
- Joan of Arc vocational high school in Vouziers, Ardennes, promoter
- St Paul vocational high school in Charleville-Mézières, Ardennes
- St Michel vocational high school in Reims, Marne
The reasons which motivated our consortium are varied :
St Michel and Joan of Arc high school had already been partners in a previous project.
We offered St Paul high school to join our consortium in order to answer to the new rules of the project and because the school dispenses the same training to the students : a baccalaureate in Assistance, Care and Service to the person.
Many teachers in the three high schools had regularly met during training days organized by the regional education inspector. It facilitated the exchanges, the elaboration and the monitoring of our project.
The region of Champagne Ardennes is known to suffer from an important lack of employment, which directly concerns the students who are going to enter the working life.
Most of the students of our three high-schools come from an underprivileged environment of from single-parent families, whom are not movable because they fear the “unknown” and are worried about their entering in the working life.
Strong partnerships had been built in the past with the intermediate high-schools.
Joan Of Arc and St Michel high school perfectly knew the organizations selected as they offered activities which respected what the reference document demands.
The aims of the project :
Facing such a strained economical context, the teachers from the three high-school have decided together - and one more time for two of them, to direct to an Erasmus + mobility project, because they were convinced to offer their students a unique chance to live a human experience which would be enriching on their personal and working lives.
This consortium has allowed us to gather and share our energy, our pedagogical skills on following their vocational training and our material or human means (there were more administrative agents and teachers in St-Paul and St-Michel than in Joan of Arc).
By offering our students to leave for a mobility, our goal was to show them they were able to leave their family environment, their living area and to succeed in their vocational training abroad in a country where they didn’t know the language. This aimed at adding a value to their work and to make them gain confidence about the pursuit of their training. The final assessment has proved once again that it was positive.
The teachers have also wanted to give them one more chance to enrich their curriculum vitae to highlight this job experience.
The pedagogical teams have also wanted to make the students feel more concerned about the European worth because most of them bear a wary vision, or even a negative one on our neighbours. They don’t know them but they imagine they are really different from us.
The number of participants :
-In the application form we had announced 16 participants for the mobility. The co-financing of the region Champagne-Ardenne, the help of the association of pupils’ parents and our good managing allowed us to make 23 students leave, 18 in Spain and 5 in Madera.
The profile of the participants :
The students who benefited from a grant, in 11th, 12th of 13th grade were preparing a vocational training in Assistance, Care and Service to the Person.
They all volunteered to go abroad.
Description of the activities realized :
The students who were greeted in the retirement homes have made these tasks :
Helping people to walk, to clean themselves, to dress or to undress, to eat
Cleaning the rooms
Setting up of clearing up the tables
Participating in animations or activities
The students who were greeted in day care centres or in primary schools made these tasks:
Helping to feed the children, to prepare the nap, to wash hand or to change diapers.

The results and impacts achieved:
Each student has succeeded in integrating a new environment in the host family.
Each of them has given a positive image of him or her during the realisation of the activities, which were done with care and attention. They also adapted their vocational techniques to the country (when they made the beds for example).
The assessments made with the official grid have shown good results.
The students came back feeling greater and proud to succeed the challenge. They felt more confident about the future in their training.
They talked about their work and personal experience to their friends and they recommended them to leave.
The success of this broadcasted project, followed by the regional education inspector, gives us confidence about the open-mindedness of the three high-schools on Europe and assures us a benevolent eye from the hierarchical supervisors.
St Paul and Joan Of Arc schools continue these projects of mobility.
