La cultura en la educación: aprendiendo de Europa

The essential points that summarize our proyect ("The culture in education: learning of Europe") are the followings: - Context of the project: The secondary school “Bachiller Diego Sánchez” is located in a small village next to Badajoz. We are in a rural environment where the socio-economic status of families is low. The students are quite unmotivated for studies and even less for languages. Academic failure is about 55%. - Amount of teachers and profiles: A commitee has been formed by four members: Head master, Head teacher, French teacher and Music teacher. Seven teachers of our school will participate in this project, doing the mobility activities. They belong to the Language, French, Latin, Mathematics, Economics, Music and Careers Adviser Departments, and they teach subjects as varied as to motivate the students in different fields, through the cultural and artistic competence. Our center has experience in different kinds of educative projects. - Planned activities and methodology to carry out the project: The duration of our project is 12 months and it will include two phases: 1. from June, 2015 to January, 2016: preparatory phase: a. Preparatory activities for specific courses. b. Linguistic preparation. 4. from January, 2016 to June, 2016: mobility activities. We are looking for activities whose concept and quality are adapted to our needs. The School Education Gateway catalog offers diverse options that come to terms with our necesities. With this project, we want to impulse improvement in quality, excelence in innovation and internationalization, improving teachers' competence according to the identified needs of our school. - Description of the outcomes and expected impact: The main outcome we want to obtain is to wake up the interest of the students to the studies through new and different methodologies inculcated in Europe in order to lessen school failure. We will use Twinspace to make the informacion available for everyone. We also want to give an International accent to the school throught European projects, in order to define our identity as a school. We expect outcomes such as: - awareness of the European dimension in education - integration of other culture in Europe, an common European culture. We believe that although the participation will be individual, the impact will be significant and relevant for the school community. - Long term benefits: Thanks to learning European methodologies, we expect an improvement in professional skills of the teachers. We will have a strategic planification of our center. We also hope that academic failure will be reduced. We are planning to present a Key Action 2 next year.
