L'Europe au Sud
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2019 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The creation of a JMCE (Jean Monnet Centre of excellence) named « Europe South » aims to enhance the visibility of European studies and research within the university area of Aix-Marseille. This project shall allow us to exploit remarkable intellectual resources as well as to create synergies between different academic disciplines in order to develop greater openness with civil society. Gathering many Jean Monnet Chairs, this project is established within a very favourable institutional context as all academic fields are represented in Aix-Marseille University. The JMCE should bring together high-level specialists of law, political science, history, educational sciences, public administration, sociology and economics. The JMCE’s action shall be based on two main pillars : the dissemination of information and knowledge towards a broad public by using the digital tool as well as the enforcement of educational and scientific excellence, for example by testing innovative methods of learning. Moreover, this project aims to stimulate a collective and interdisciplinary scientific research on Euro-Mediterranean relations. As a great Mediterranean university, AMU is more than others legitimate to host a JMCE whose ambition is to specifically focus on the relations between the EU and its “South”. This issue can be divided in various themes (as migrations, fundamental rights, governance…) that, in the light of Euro-Mediterranean relations, take a particular shape. The purpose of the initiative is also to measure at a sub regional level the added value of the EU in those different policy domains. The dissemination of the scientific results will be an important purpose and will be fulfiled not only by publications but also by a digital platform and many online resources.
