Kuusankosken Retkeilijät ry has for may years had internetional activities and it has provided for his active members a chance to gain more impetus from international interaction to develop its activities by means of new ideas and at the same time to find new partners in different European countries. The original intention of the two-year project was that nine persons who before in their professional lives and now later in their social activities still are in many positions in adult education and international projects to participate in courses in order to develop their language skills and to expand our Europe-wide-cooperation network. One participant took part in job shadowing in Slovenia where he had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the adult education activities in one of our cooperating organizations, particularly how to get special groups involved in education. At the same time he had the opportunity to present the Finnish adult education and to give presentations on Finland-related topics to the staff and students of the partner organization. Eleven people attended language courses: one German language course in Berlin, four an English language course in Malta and six Estonian language course in Pärnu. Languages were chosen mainly according to the needs of Kuusankosken Retkeilijät, which has had co-operation and projects with German-speaking countries and regions such as Germany and South Tyrol. English is the most common language used in the projects and because Retkeilijät is currently in a project, whose working language is English. Kuusankosken Retkeilijät has had for many years cooperation with Estonian educational organizations, so it was natural that some of our group studied and strengthened their Estonian language skills. On the personal level, the results of the mobilities can be seen in improvement of the language skills, social interaction skills and cultural knowledge, as well as in an increase of working skills, which are needed in international projects. With the help of new contacts Kuusankosken Retkeilijät gets more partners. Participation in international mobility also increases awaraness and visibility of the club both locally and in different European countries. Transparency and open-mindedness are also increasing in the inner circle of the participants involved in the mobility. In the long run, the international cooperation at the grassroots level will be more efficient and the sense of European community is deepening.
