Obrtnička škola Koprivnica is a vocational school providing education in the areas of food and catering industry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction, woodworking, etc. Students in the areas of food and catering industry do their training in licensed catering objects or in school workshops. In the catering objects the students cannot get the knowledge and skills required by the curriculum while the school workshops do not provide enough real work experience. This projects aims to expand the practical knowledge and skills of students in the occupations cook, confectioner or assistant cook and confectioner. The aims of the project are to achieve professional knowledge and skills through new working techniques achieved in a quality training, to broaden knowledge and skills necessary for the labour market, to expand social, computing, language and life skills of the participants, to encourage critical opinion and cooperative learning, and to work on the inclusion of students with cognitive disabilities and behavioural disorders through cooperative learning with students in the regular educational programme. Erasmus + mobility project “Kuharske zgodbe” includes a two-week mobility of ten students of Obrtnička škola Koprivnica in the occupations cook, confectioner, and assistant cook and confectioner. Project will be implemented in the school year 2015/2016, and the mobility will take place in March 2016 in School center Velenje in Slovenia. During the mobility the students will do the practical training in the partner institution and get to know the host country through cultural activities. During the mobility the students will be placed in the student’s house of the partner institution with accompanying teachers. Before the mobility the students will participate in preparation classes (pedagogical and cultural, professional, organizational and computing classes), and after the mobility they will evaluate the results and present them to the local community. During the project various methods will be used: group work, individual work, presentation method, methods of interactive communication, method of direct communication with the media etc. Partner institutions are of similar profiles so the mobility will create new possibilities for the participants to acquire knowledge and skills by working with modern technology in the partner institution. Participants will also get to know geography, history, culture and language of the host country ,and the newly acquired life skills and social inclusion will be visible in the participants’ behaviour and cooperation with the other students. The acquired knowledge and practical skills will help the participants to adjust more easily to the demands of life after secondary school and the demands of the changing labour market. Through EU projects Obrtnička škola plans to enable its students equal opportunities in each occupational programme, increase the number of enlisted students and add a European dimension to education.
