The main aim of the project, which is based on a visit of ten teachers who have majored in oligofrenopedagogy, from SOSW no 3 in Cracow to San Miguel Resource Centre in Malta, is to find out about the Malta Special Schools Reform, the multidirectional approach to the education and therapy of disabled children over there, to enrich the knowledge of methodology and therapeutic techniques used in Malta at every level of education from the early school education, primary level, secondary level and young adult level (vocational education). It will help the teachers to learn about the management and organization of such facilities abroad as well as upgrade the knowledge of the education of children with varied degrees of disability in Malta. We plan to achieve this through observation (job shadowing) and analysis of the methods and techniques used in class environment and through exchange of the experiences in the fields of pupil diagnosis. Furthermore, the project aims at meeting the management of the schools in Malta and learn about organization of special education in Malta. The other aim of the project is to improve teachers’ linguistic skills and in consequence the job mobility at the European job market. Polish teachers will find out about the adaptation of assistive technology tools to individual psychophysical abilities of disabled children, the innovation projects and education project carried on by the Schools in Malta, the way how the schools are managed and the type of school documentations. The participants of the project are the teachers of different school levels: kindergarten teachers, primary teachers, secondary teachers, vocational education teachers. We aim at the improvement of the quality of our work by introducing new, more attractive and effective rehabilitation methods, using modern technology like interactive boards, computers and internet. Participation in the project helps to achieve better competence in the field of multidisciplinary diagnosis. We wish to make this process more personalized and suitable to specific and very unique needs of each and every student. This will open the door to further common projects. The results of the project will be shown during the conference which will take place in SOSW in Krakow. The conference will be dedicated to Polish teachers who work with disabled children on every level of education: kindergartens, psychological centers, integration schools, vocational schools, parents of our disabled pupils, employers and job trainers.
