In the Tukums Regional Multifunctional Youth Initiative Centre (YC) implemented volunteers project „Together we can more!”, which was realized from 1st August 2014 till 31st July 2015. In the Municipality of Tukums youth activity and initiatives are very low in different fields. Youth Center wants to change it. The European Volunteers project is suitable instrument for it.The project aims to improve the quality of life, to promote youth initiatives and their involvement in decision-making and in social life, to promote meaningful leisure time activities, to develop the awareness of citizens and to know other cultures.The project involves 2 volunteers, from 18-30 years old, ready for informal activities, with basic English skills, responsive, with initiative, friendly, sociable, flexible, open, intend to learn and to teach, proud of their culture and with interest about our country, history and culture. Their gender, ethnic background, race and religion does not matter. It is not important to have some special experience of working with youth. The most important thing is interest in work with youth and the own initiative.During this project involved 2 volunteers, who worked with their own ideas in Youth center, shared their culture, opinions, they attracted youth for different activities, including sports games, board games, creative activities, informal events, video activities, cooking activities, dance activities, as well as in communication skills developing activities in English. All activities realized through informal methods.The results of the project are: involved 2 volunteers in the Tukums Regional Multifunctional Youth Initiative Centre for 9 month, created at least two new activities for youth in YC, realized at least two informative activities about EVS, in the project involved two mentors and one Latvian language teacher.Project has impact on all target groups - the volunteers, the youth, the sending and host organizations, mentors and all society. The volunteers are more open to other cultures, they are more confident and with adopted new skills. The project improved the quality of life for young people, promoted youth initiatives and their involvement in decision-making and in social life and promoted meaningful leisure time activities. The sending organizations improved their experience in collaboration. Host organization attracted more young people to YC activities to realize their moved forward objectives. Mentors have new experience with other culture, new communication skills and improved foreign language skills. Volunteers activities are visible not only in YC but also in all municipality. Project will have indirect impact in national and European level - society will know more about volunteering, other cultures and possibilities and necessity to be active on all levels.
