Contacts, experience and education
The Relief Association of Rovaniemi Waldorf School (Rovaniemen Seudun Steiner-kouluyhdistys ry) is applying for Erasmus+ funding (general education, key activity 1) for three mobilities that would be carried out by two teachers.
The main objectives our school, relevant for this project, are creating international contacts and deepening the professional competence of the teachers. International teaching experiences and exchange teaching experiences with colleagues support teacher's overall personal development and the idea of a lifelong learning. They accumulate the capital of teaching's content and open up a new pedagogical and methodological perspectives on teaching. Moreover, the international experience and training seminar motivate teachers and improve the teachers language skills.
The first two mobilities are two-week job shadowings. We want to offer Tiina Meriläinen, working as a class teacher and arts, and Pauli Seppälä, a German and Swedish teacher, the opportunity to get familiar to other Waldorf School's everyday life, to exchange ideas and experiences with local collegues as well as acquire new international partners for our school.
The third mobility is related to a one-week further training seminar on a variety of issues relevant to teaching German, dealing with a wide range in the key issues of German teaching. Pauli Seppälä, whom is familiar to the concept would participate to the training based on the experience of previous year, discussion and exchange of the experiences seem to be in the key role. The experience is useful especially in the teaching of functionality and developing being memorable. In-service training contains not only creating contacs between schools but networking with the other teachers of the same study subject.
The most interesting experiences will be shared with colleagues in teachers weekly meetings, and in a teachers' Waldorf school online communities, in which case it can give the indirect benefit for the whole Waldorf school community. Teachers use international experience also on their lessons.
