Kompetenzorientiertes Lehren und Lernen: Vertiefung und Erweiterung der sprachlichen, methodischen und kulturellen Kompetenzen des Lehrpersonals

Innovations in the Austrian school system (new Matura, educational standards,... )as well as the urge to improve and develop the language competence and the cultural knowledge of teaching staff led to the launch of the project. The number of participants amounts to one language teacher of whose aims are - to improve their linguistic knowledge - to get to know innovative teaching methods and tools and to use them in future lessons - to learn how to exploit new media and use new technology effectively in language teaching - to broaden their knowledge of different cultures as well as to experience learning in a multicultural environment themselves and - to possibly establish new contacts (with other teachers and/or educational institutions in Europe) in a structured course. The envisaged impact and results are - a more authentic use of language as well as greater personal confidence when using the language - the creation of a lively and motivating teaching environment (by using various innovative teaching methods and new material), in which students learn to acquire not only basic but also communicative and linguistic competences - to share the acquired knowledge of different cultures with students and emphasise the importance of tolerance, acceptance and integration in a multicultural Europe - the contribution to a Europe-wide interconnectedness/network among teachers by possibly establishing new contacts with teachers - the contribution to ensure that the level of language teaching of the applicant organistion remains high.
