Val Upper Secondary school offers education in natural resources. We want ti send equine, argriculture and aquaculture students on two weeks work placements to Ireland and the Netherlands. The project will be a two year project and in total will 52 students 12 teachers be involved in the project. The school wants to establish longlasting internastionalisation projects and it is therephore important that the involved students will represent the school in a good way. We also want the work placements abroad to be a motivation for the students in order for them to work towards a goal. The following criterias will be used in selecting students for a work placement abroad: - good marks for order and conduct - professional motivation and interest - professional development throughout the year - adequate oral english skills The students doing a work placement in Ireland or the Netherlands wil be working in farms/companies suitable for their subject combination. The students will be placed in different places depending on their occupational skills, physical condition and personal skills. During the stay there will also be set aside time for each of the subjects to have a day to get more knowledge about a special theme. The main aim of the project is: 1. Give the students professional and up to date european knowledge within their subject of study. 2. Personal development for the individual student through challenge and mastering We plan to spend time prior to the placement periods to prepare the students culturally and in terms of language skills. THis will ensure that the students that are not sellected to go abroad also are involved. In this way subjects like Social Sience and English will be included. These are the expected impacts: - introduction to and increased knowledge about the aquaculture industry in Ireland, and increased knowledge about species that are not commonly cultivated in Norway. - the equine and agriculture students will increase their knowledge about production management and the importance of economic focus within the industries. In addition to increased knowledge about industrial production, effective use of cattle feed, politics in the EU and the Netherlands, animal welfare and the challenges in the use of antibiotics. - insight into the differences in the working conditions and enhanced intercultural awareness - improved english language competence - improved learning performance - more active participation in society in terms of becoming more reflective The expected long term impacts: - increased interest for the lines of study and increased recruitment - continuity in the offer of working placements abroad - international network of contacts that will open the possibilities for different types of knowledge based projects within the lines of study, hence contribute to increasing the schools international/european knowledge within the schools line of study.
