PROJET
TERMINÉ
The project involved 21 students of the third and second year of study at Social College (sending institution). They study study Social Work and Social Pedagogy in the program of Social Work.
Students completed two internships. The first internship in Leipzig was attended by six students. The second internship in London was attended by 15 students. Partner organizations were Vitalis GmbH in Leipzig and ADC College in London, which ensure placement in totally 11 homes for the elderly and the disabled, for example SAH Am Rosenthal in Leipzig and Rubens House, Holly Bush Care Home or Parkfield House in London. Vitalis and ADC ensured introductory training, ongoing evaluation and monitoring of students on placement. Partner organizations provided training for students, monitoring, accommodation, transfers, and transportation on the first and last day of placement to and from the place of accommodation.
Within the project, students attended two weeks of placement in the field of social work and care services. The project was focused on gaining experience in the organization and implementation of social services in EU countries. In addition to verifying the extension and improvement of their professional competencies related to caregiving and social work, students could verify and improve their skills in English communication.
The main objectives of the internship was to gain new knowledge in the field of social services and social work, applying knowledge from the study of the theory and methods of social work, law and social policy, case studies, supervision, problems of minorities, education, improvement of practical skills in the job with a client or a client group, improvement in foreign languages, especially in the field of social services and social work. Furthermore, to get an overview of social policy in the care of ill, elderly, or other socially disadvantaged groups of people in the EU country, verification and comparison of different methods, legislation and practice in social services in the Czech Republic and visited EU countries. Students got the opportunity to develop their skills to set their own work schedule better and decide in a given situation, how to communicate with clients and superior individuals to develop professional knowledge and values. And last but not least, experience the culture, lifestyle and traditions of the visited country.
The outputs of internships included the creation of photo and video documentation, writing essays and presentations from the placement which were presented to students, teachers and the general public within 6 public workshops. Interns also prepared a small dictionary of technical terms in English and German, promoted the project in local newspapers, on Web sites and Facebook sites of the school.
Objectives and outputs of the project were fulfilled.
