With our project we aim to improve the competencies in foreign languages for teachers at Sandnes Upper Secondary School. Teachers in Spanish, German, French and English will get updated knowledge of language, culture and society in their subjects respectively. They will take part in courses or conferences relevant to their subject. The goal of the project is that their improved competence will provide improved possibilities for students' language learning and motivate them to choose the possibility to study a foreign language at the highest level at our school. This will also give them the possibility to study in one of the EU-countries as they move on to higher education.The project is in line with the school's Internationalisation Plan and the Strategic Plan for Foreign Languages of the County of Rogaland. It involves four teachers in each of the four foreign languages taught at Sandnes Upper Secondary School, a total of 16 teachers. The teachers all have a formal education in their subject, at least a full year of university studies.When the project is completed, the teachers will be important assets to our school and to the county as a whole. They will also be able to provide better tuition to their students. Our plan for evaluation of the project and for dissemination of the results, will ensure that there will be long term benefits for both students and teachers at Sandnes Upper Secondary School and for teachers at the other schools in the County of Rogaland.
