Kindergartenpraxis
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The mobility project should enable 18-year-old students of the Kindergarten Teacher Training College (Bildungsanstalt für Kindergartenpädagogik) to get insight into various childcare institutions in London, to do placement work there and reflect their on their internship experiences afterwards. The students should gain initial vocational experience in British pre-school or after-school settings. Work experience in these settings should help students to enhance skills and further develop and expand their experiences in their field of work. The opportunity to get insight into British institutions should make them open to current aspects of elementary education and new approaches in childcare. Thirty students will do two weeks of placement work in London, four teachers will accompany them . They are in close and constant contact with their cooperation partner ADC who is responsible for implementing the project as well as coordinating host families and childcare institutions. The project is meant to promote competences in the following areas: It will help students to: • develop intercultural awareness and understanding • build up self-confidence and develop entrepreneurial skills • foster independence and self-organization • acquire and extend specialist language skills in their field of work • compare and contrast British and Austrian nursery schools and reflect on the differences • develop soft skills (intercultural communication, adapting to a new setting and integrating in a team, negotiating..) • face new, challenging situations and develop suitable problem solving strategies The experiences mentioned above will be reflected upon, analysed and discussed and presented in a public setting. This means the project will not only broaden the horizons of both teachers and students regarding their own school , but also be part of an exchange among the headmasters of Austrian Kindergarten Teacher Training Colleges. The accompanying teachers will act as multipliers and will try to create low-threshold access to British nursery schools, so as to motivate and encourage students to consider working in European childcare institutions after they have graduated from college.
