Keys to employability - Intercultural Competence

In the modern, globalized world where many organizations and institutions operate on the multinational level, their future employees are expected to have competences that will enable them to also work in an international environment. Moreover, as the modern societies are becoming increasingly culturally diverse in itself, the ability to successfully cooperate with people with different cultural backgrounds has became crucial not only in private life but also in the professional field. Therefore, it is necessary to provide youth with an opportunity to develop a certain set of essential intercultural competences that will not only boost their chances on the labor market, but will also strongly contribute to their social and personal development. Taken this context into account the TC “Keys to employability – Intercultural competenc” is aiming at exploring practical tools on developing intercultural competences that can be used for enhancing employability of young people.It will gaher 25 youth workers and youth leaders from program and EECA partner countries in Armenia, who already have some previous experience in the work with unemployed youth. The specific objectives of the project are: • To equip youth workers and youth leaders with tools and methods designed to develop intercultural competences amongst unemployed youth • To introduce basic theories of culture and interculturality and provide participants with a space to reflect and discuss the concepts • To provide participants with an opportunity to exchange challenges and possible solutions in the field of preventing youth unemployment in their comunnities • To establish a network of like-minded organizations and individuals who are interested in further cooperation on the topic The working methods will be based on the ideals and principles of non-formal education. After participation in the training course the youth workers and youth leaders will be able set up initatives in their own communities connecting intercultural competence development with the topic of unemployment. On a long term it is expected to increase the soft skills of their target groups in this important field and to therefore ease their entry to the labour market.
