As a new organization, Aeiforum is in need to integrate volunteers who offer their services in different fields of knowledge and expertise. Given the grave unemployment problem in Greece, people need support to overcome difficulties, in various fields of every day life.In the framework of such an effort, our organization intends to send five (5) volunteer members abroad to be trained in mentoring. The travelling trainees are adult trainers themselves in a variety of fields.The goals that we expect to achieve through this course /structured seminar? are as follows:• form a group of experts in mentoring, to serve people in need• optimum use of modern means of social networking• modern methods of administration of non-profit volunteer organizations• techniques for attracting new members• fundraising techniquesThe methodology of the course /structured seminar? that the volunteers will attend includes lectures, team work sessions, case studies, practice in mentoring etc .This course /structured seminar? is expected to cover the needs of our organization, as well as those of our fellow citizens on the whole, in the following ways:1. The volunteers will be trained in a “cutting edge” issue such the mentoring to people than need it, and will be able to transfer the acquired knowledge and experience to their fellow citizens2. They will acquire the necessary knowledge and experience that will enable them to successfully organize relevant seminars and training activities.3. They are expected to improve their foreign language skills in English, as English is the working language4. They are expected to acquire special knowledge which will be particularly useful for the creation of “think tanks” inside the Organization, thus attracting new members and volunteers.5. They will get to know a foreign country and distinguished local people which will enrich the social skills of our volunteers-members, improving at the same time our profile.The following set of criteria will be used to select the volunteers to travel abroad:1. Desire to participate2. Good knowledge of the working language3. Commitment to the goals of the Organization for a long period (medium-long investment).4. Special interest in the training topics5. Commitment for active involvement in the dissemination activities program6. Equal representation of men and women7. Equal representation of agesSelf improvement of the volunteers through their participation in the training course is expected in terms of: 1. European culture. The participation in actions and activities with other Europeans enforces the feeling of belonging to Europe and to the EU.2. A culture of respect for each other. Getting to know citizens of other countries, their cultures, their habits, views, social and financial systems, etc, reinforces the European orientation of the country in general.3. Knowledge on a variety of topics, such as sustainable development, green growth, replacement of polluting energy resources with clean ones, organizing training courses and conferences, the responsible consumer approach , respecting the laws of the country and of the EU, etc.4. Improvement of cooperation skills. This is fundamental as our volunteers need to be able to cooperate with people of different origin, different views and different practices.5. Campaign organisation. Every Organization like ours undertakes campaigns on different issues on a regular basis .6. Recruitment of supporters. No Organization can survive unless they can obtain a substantial part of their operating costs from society and from a variety of supporters.7. Communication skills. This field is of major importance to any volunteer Organization, thus our volunteers are expected to gain a great deal from the course /structured seminar? For the best dissemination of the results, we intend to do the following:• Upload information on our website www.aeiforum.eu• Issue press releases and conduct technical discussion during and after the conclusion of the project• Diffuse the information through our mailing lists• Participate and present the program in conferences and other relevant events.• Send publications to newspapers, periodicals, journals and websites related to the fields of adult education and NGO’s.The long term benefits of this training course are expected to be highly positive since they relate to the establishment of social businesses, a field that may be part of the solution to the problem of high unemployment rates in our country.
