Kaléidoscope de compétences interculturelles
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Beyond the geopolitical context, the boarder of diversity can only be crossed through tolerance and mutual recognition. In our multicultural societies all to often we observe in work relations, in schools, during travels or on the street how conflicts and misunderstandings arise linked to differences of cultural codes, behaviours, norms which sometimes cannot be translated. How to overcome this challenge to make it a real source of empowerment and richness for the individuals and the community? We wish to develop dynamic and interactive approaches for people who usually don't show much interest for encountering "others", to trigger curiosity, and develop the sense and motivation of intercultural dialogue, exchange and cooperation. We have well motivated professional teams and can count with the contributions of young colleagues, volunteers, interns who often know what to say, but not always how to apply that knowledge. The challenge of of our members in these trainings will be to gain new methods which have already proven themselves at other partner organisations and countries. We certainly share the phenomenon of migration with other European countries, resulting in a great cultural diversity which is expected only to increase. In France, these often provoke suspicion, misunderstanding or denial. In order to prevent situations of xenophobia or identity closure, it is essential to develop intercultural competencies: capacity to find common grounds, deconstruct prejudice and understand how important culture is - whatever its manifestations and how great an impact it has on our lives. The differences should be noted and understood as an occasion for sharing, encounter, understanding and tolerance. It also implies to benefit from the encounter to better see one's own culture also. In total 22 members / trainers / volunteers will participate in five different trainings to come back with in depth notions shared with European colleagues, an widened bagage of pedagogical tools, new methods and techniques. The expected result is that we can benefit from these intercultural learning opportunities and turn the newly acquired knowledge and skills into more creative local trainings, with more adaptable paradigms and tools that can better answer to the challenges of cultural diversity and adaptation in France.
