The present European development plan 'Innovative teaching practices against students failure and early school leaving' has come up after evaluation of the needs of the school and staff. Our basic need is to get training on the innovative approaches and methodologies of the 21st century as well as on new educational tools (ICT). Our basic target is to fight school failure and the early school leaving of the students who lack motivation and abilities. The phenomenon of early school leaving has been torturing our school for many years now. We believe that by using up to date methods and approaches we will intrigue our students' interest and provide motivation for creative and effective learning. The teachers who will participate in the activities belong to the permanent school staff and are distinguished by their desire for lifelong learning and continuous professional development. Their main aim is to enrich their qualifications and improve their didactic approaches. A sum of six teachers will take part into mobilities, during a 12-month period, in order to attend structured seminars and courses on the field of new methodologies and didactics as well as the fields of teaching students who are at risk of failing or dropping out of school and teaching through the use of ICTs.The whole project will be carried out with cooperation among our school, the course provider, the regional directorate and our national agency. The interaction among the participating teachers will be constant and so will the communication between the school and the course provider. On behalf of the school, the coordinator will be the legal representative (headmaster) with the help of a teacher who will organize the mobilities and the execution of the whole project.We expect that by carrying out this project the teachers will achieve great benefits and they, in turn, will have the chance to pass their knowledge on to their colleagues and apply it to their everyday practice. We believe that it will make our teaching more effective and of better quality. As a result, this will intrigue and motivate our students to become more active and productive. It will help our students realize that school can be a creative place, where they can develop their skills and unique talents ,and not a boring place where just knowledge is conveyed. In the long term, we do hope that student failure and early school leaving will be decreased.
