KA1, adult education, staff mobility, Englischkurse.li 2016 - 2018
Date du début: 1 juin 2016, Date de fin: 31 mai 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

I Nina Fischli, owner and director of Englischkurse.li and my two employees James Messenger and Katarzyna Lewosinska are very grateful for this amazing opportunity that the Erasmus+ programme provides and are very much looking forward to doing further education trainings within member states of the European Union if our application is approved. Being non-native speakers of English, these programmes will enable Katarzyna and me to improve our knowledge of English, which is the language that we teach in our German speaking environment. It will enable all of us further to learn about how to make use of new technologies and web 2.0 tools in the modern English classroom and thus provide the students with a new approach to learning this global language that helps connect each and everyone with the rest of the world. Thanks to visiting two of our partner schools in Malta and England and attending their training programmes, we can keep personal contact with these schools and ensure good communication and high quality standards. These first-hand experiences will help enormously to improve the English language stay consulting service that I provide. Furthermore, these trainings abroad will lead to new enthusiasm thanks to gaining precious experience abroad, learning about other cultures, opening our minds and developing our personalities further. From my own experience, this enthusiasm is contageous and automatically passed on to people who show an interest in going abroad, like most of our students and potential language stay customers. In addition, it is like balm for the soul to have a change of scenery every now and again and submerge into a different culture, even if it’s just for a little while. If possible, I will also make additional use of my own trainings in England by creating new business relationships and thus becoming able to offer a wider choice of partner schools abroad to our customers / students. I’d as well like to take this chance if possible and combine my training stays with visits to some of my existing business contacts before or after the training event or in my free time if these visits don’t interfere with the activities planned by the training programme provider. I’d conduct these visits at my own expense. In order to achieve the goals listed in this application, Katarzyna, James and I will attend training events that we believe will be most useful. Since we have different backgrounds and needs, different trainings are needed for James and Katarzyna and myself. James is a native speaker of English and so he doesn't need to improve his English skills but is eager to learn about using technology and web 2.0 tools in the classroom and to submerge himself in the Maltese culture. We have agreed to set up at least one workshop after attending the training events in order to share our experiences and ideas that we learnt about in the courses. These workshops will take place in the warm atmosphere of my place and I will provide some home-cooked dinner. This informal get-together is not only valuable for sharing ideas but also for the team spirit.Since Katarzyna and I are non-native speakers of English, improving our own English skills will help us provide better quality English tuition, especially in high level courses which are becoming more and more popular. We will be able to become more professional and self-confident. The new ideas that we’ll learn about which are suitable for higher-level courses will lead to more motivation and enthusiasm: feelings that we pass on to our students. All of us find it important to not only convey positive feelings regarding the English language itself and make our students become aware of the sheer endless possibilites that come along with mastering this language. We also want them to become more open-minded towards foreign cultures. Due to past experience we believe that thanks to our photos taken during the Erasmus+ programmes and telling them about our own experiences gained abroad and the foreign cultures, they will want to travel to foreign countries themselves, put their English skills into practice, gain own experience, make new friends and without even noticing – open their minds to other cultures.
