Joulupukki project
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 28 févr. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Santa Claus is coming in every year to all children in the world – this is a global issue and everyone knows about that. It is part of our culture as globish culture. However, Santa Claus has different names in different cultures and he has thousands different habits, clothes, tales and histories. It is the same when we say “project management” – it is a globish term and we all believe that we mean the same. However, project management could be the same name for different approaches and phases and steps and it consists of different habits, words, expressions, actions and histories. Most of the organisations consider themselves as professional or beginner in international project management, even though some organisations can be very professional in the project management of local youth project, nevertheless making huge mistakes within the project management of an international youth projects. Our cultures are different, our approaches, way of thinking and reactions can be also amazingly different. One partner thinks that something is very simple, which can be very difficult for the other one. For someone being late from a Skype conference call with 30 minutes, it is politeness; meanwhile the same situation can be very rude for someone else. To speak personally with a man, can be very difficult for a lady who has a refugee background and it could be very easy for a lady from a Scandinavian country. To prepare an EVS volunteer for a long term project without knowing the culture of the host country, could be very challenging for the sending coordinator. To cooperate with a partner who does not answer to our emails then complain that we don’t react into his emails immediately could be really annoying. There are thousands and thousands intercultural encounters within international youth work what we should use as positive tools instead of tackling it as cultural challenges. By our project, we will cover a need for suggestions how we can support the internalisations of local youth organisations, make quality standards for project management of youth exchanges, EVS and youth workers’ mobility in order to avoid cultural clashes and use intercultural encounters for the sake of high – quality cooperation. So the overall aim of this training course is to explore possible cultural challenges and make them intercultural encounters within project management of youth exchanges, EVS and youth workers’ mobility in order to support the internalisations of local youth organisations. To provide possibility for young people with fewer opportunities on participation in high – quality youth projects where cultural differences are used as positive tools for intercultural competence development. To build strong and solid partnership among participated organisations where cultural differences are values and support the richness of project management of common international youth projects. Our participants will be youth professionals mostly from rural areas working with culturally different background young people as migrants, refuges, minority, Roma young people. Most of them are experienced regarding to youth exchanges, EVS and youth workers’ mobility, however their need is foster the quality of their project management in transnational cooperation with a culture based aspect.
