The overall problem is that regional economic situation of SMEs on both sides of the SER-HU border is negatively affected by globalization, economic crisis and transition (in Serbia). This makes the progress of SMEs more difficult. The problem that SMEs face in the region is lack of networking, cooperation and premises, insufficient experience for overcoming of problems faced in business, lack of incentives and institutional support by institutions on all levels. They should be grouped in work zones and industrial parks, in order to efficiently decrease noise in the city (especially city center), protect the environment and provide optimal conditions for their work, networking and development. Local institutions in the region cannot cover all the expenses for documentation which is the basis for solving these problems, hence, the project envisages the preparation of the missing documents: Main Project of SME Center in Novi Sad and Kistelek Ind. Zone Development Strategy. Development of infrastructure based on these documents will relocate the production from urban areas, connect SMEs better (know-how, business cooperation, stronger presence on the market, market expansion) and protect the environment (less noise in the city). Cooperation and know-how will start already during project implementation, in workshops presenting: CBC business possibilities, institutional support to SMEs, industrial park in Kistelek and work zone in Novi Sad and their importance for SMEs, importance of networking, etc. and all for the purpose of borderless economic growth, strengthening of SMEs and bringing them closer together. General objective: to increase competitiveness of SMEs in the region by creating opportunities for common economic growth.
