The reason to put the project into practice was the necessity to establish both new and current cooperation with the partner schools. The project not only allowed the school management and school staff to exchange their work experience, but also contributed to the development of school mobility projects.
The project was focused on experience transfer in school specialist subjects: Law, Economy and Public Administration. The choice of these subjects was supported by employers’ growing requirements for filling free vacancies in the administration.
The main reason to establish the consortium was the need to implement the project for school management and their teachers. The schools were highly motivated as they had never taken part in any job-shadowing activity. All participants expected great contributions to their educational processes. Inter-regional consortium was established by partner schools.
The main aim was the exchange of experience transfer in specialist subjects: Law, Economy and Public Administration. The specialist teachers and head teachers of specialist subjects compared both positions and functions of chosen subjects within school curricular documents. Moreover, the teachers got to know ICT technologies, which were used during the specialist subject lessons. Finally, the teachers learnt different approaches to school leaving exams (practical, written and oral) and their assessment. The next aim was to find out how the partner schools solved the payment for work-experience practice regarding to their students and employers. Furthermore, the questions of mentoring and tutoring as well as final assessment of work-experience practice were discussed.
The aim of the project was to create an evaluation questionnaire for a work-experience practice of partner schools’ students, which corresponded to the ECVET’s requirements.
The project dealt with the comparison with different approaches to school management and school funding, school staff rewarding and their prospective career, further education of teachers, school electronic systems and material and technical school equipment.
The project had 13 participants. Each member of the consortium appointed 4 participants; the applicant’s institution appointed a project coordinator. The consortium consisted of headmasters, deputies for specialist subjects and head-teachers for specialist subjects and specialist teachers. The partner schools did not have any problems with accepting project members.
Two partner schools were involved in the project. The school BBS Rotenburg was from Germany and the school SSOS Tatranska akademia was from Poprad, the Slovak Republic.
The project had two school-term activities. The same working group took part in each term. The working group followed and completed the same aims. The first term was 11/2015 in Germany and the second one in 02/2016 in the Slovak Republic.
The first consortium meeting took place before the first activity. The main aims, working agenda and time schedule for school visits were set there. The participants of the project were supposed to work on project documents and outcomes between each partner school visit. The project team met to assess the whole project and its outcomes after the second term activity. Consequently, the project team elaborated the final project outcomes.
The further outcomes were: a general presentation for school employees and specialist presentations within subject commissions as well as presentations for other local and regional educational institutions. The project was presented in local and regional newspaper, on school web pages and Facebook.
The certificate of completing the work experience practice was Europass – mobility.
The headmaster of applicant’s institution was responsible for the quality of the project and the manager of the project was a project coordinator.
The project has been the benefit of increasing professional and managerial competences of school management and teachers, which has led to a higher standard of education and school syllabus. On the basis of the running project we expect to increase a number of international activities and to organize more projects. We suppose to increase the number of mobility in secondary specialist education and cooperation within the program ECVET.
From the long-term view we expect our school education and school syllabus to be implemented within European frame. We have used gained knowledge and experience for raising standards of learning and teaching and for making the school syllabus more attractive. The cooperating institutions will be part of any future projects.
