JOB SHADOWING: ΣΤΗ "ΣΚΙΑ" ΤΩΝ ΙΣΠΑΝΩΝ ΣΥΝΑΔΕΛΦΩΝ ΜΑΣ

Our organization is a public secondary school in the town of Oichalia in Trikala prefecture. Οur school’s international opening and mobilization for realizing European programs are an integral part of its plan.DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECTOur school's basic need is its European dimension and the incorporation of this dimension in the curriculum. Moreover, in recent years the effort to improve and update teaching practices and procedures is constant.The GEL of Oichalia, after having acquired theoretical training through the structured course CLIL IN DUBLIN: Content and Language Integrated Learning , decided to proceed further (combination of theoretical knowledge of the course with practice) by carrying out a job shadowing activity and by looking for European schools already applying the CLIL method in their curriculum.In the training activity designed there will be four teachers of various departments involved.The job shadowing activity will be held in Colegio Nuestra Señora de Monte-Sión in Torrent, Valencia and it is a 5-day observation of a daily operation of a Spanish multilingual school. Its main objective is to improve the skills of our staff in the use of the CLIL Method in the process of education and learning .ACTIVITIES-METHODOLOGYThe activities that were decided jointly with the Spanish host school have to do both with the preparation of the participants before the mobility takes place by the exchange of information through electronic means (e-Twinning, mails, facebook, etc.) for the assessment of specific needs and demands of job shadowing as well as with the attendance of classes during the five days of the materialization of the activity.More specifically, the activities the teachers will participate in are:-observation of the operation of the host school aiming at the drawing up of our internal School Regulation-attending classes of various subjects-discussion about the curriculum and activities undertaken by the school-acquisition of skills, change of attitudes and behavior in order to fulfill the objectives of the project plan.- job shadowing our counterparts, discussing with the Headmistress, teachers, students and parents, the use of questionnaires to be completed by students and teachers are the basis of the methodology and the activities for the project materialization.RESULTS-IMPACTThe expected results of the job shadowing will be the adoption of new teaching methods and skills, knowledge of actions that contribute to school opening to society and the elimination of the phenomenon of bullying. All the afore-mentioned will have as an impact the writing of the school regulation with a European orientation, the improvement of teaching, the opening of the school to society and the eradication of violence in school. Total improvement of the learning process and the offered educational services is expected, since a core group of trained teachers can make a difference raising the standard for the whole school community. The realization of this project will help to design new Erasmus + programs so as there is a continuation in the interaction among teachers aiming at European integration.
