Job Hunting Across Europe

"Job Hunting Across Europe" is a Youth Mobility, Erasmus+ project that aims to help 36 young people from Romania, Spain and Italy aged 20-26 to know how to apply for a job depending on the cultural differences from different European countries. The project will take place during September 22-28, 2014 in Cluj-Napoca, Cluj County, Romania. The idea of the project comes in the context of the high rates of youth unemployment in the European countries. The EU Youth Report from 2012 shows that current unemployment rates among young citizens is high, but differs from one state to another, with Nordic states (Finland, Denmark, Sweden) having a lower level of youth unemployment (~10%) and Southern states (Greece, Spain, Italy) having a higher unemployment rate (~30%). In order to address the topic of working abroad several objectives have been highlighted in the Erasmus+ project: The main purpose will be fulfilled while also aiming the following specific objectives: 1. Guiding 36 young participants aged 20 - 30 from Romania, Italy and Spain on how to acquire the necessary skills to maximize their chances of getting employed in other countries of the European Union. 2. Helping 36 young participants to correctly identify and analyze possible job offers existent on the labor market in the field they wish to work in different locations across Europe. 3. Informing 1000 young people through an online campaign about the unemployment situation and what solutions exists in order to maximize their chances of applying for a job. 4. Developing the capacity to individually complete their Europass Curriculum Vitae for each participant. Participants will learn how to complete an Europass CV and adapt it to the culture and job they apply for. 5. Developing an online and print informative brochure including tips and tricks on how young people can find the correct tools to discover job opportunities abroad and how to apply for a job depending on cultural aspects. In order to achieve the following objectives, different activities will be implemented: - Training sessions with 36 young participants from Romania, Spain and Italy - Working on soft skill and finding sources to develop necessary hard skills by the participants. - Discussion sessions and workshops in which the participants will be taught how to correctly create a Europass Curriculum Vitae and a motivational letter after identifying their strengths and weaknesses for the workplace aimed. - Group contributions from the participating states for the project blog in which experiences and tools from the project will be shared with the blog’s and social media audience. - Informative campaign regarding unemployment and how to successfully get a job. The activities will be based on non-formal methods such as Open Space, Brainstorming, Group Discussions or Visual Methods. The expected results of the project are help young people to apply for a job in other European countries or in their national country, but also to encourage 1000 European young people to strive for better employment opportunities and to use correct methods in order to maximize their chances on getting a job. After the youth exchange, a discussions session will be organized in universities and targeted to young people who face unemployment. Also, a training on how to properly write a CV and motivational letter will be conducted in all the 3 countries in order to help young people gain knowledge in the field.
