TERMINÉ
Leon Kruczkowski Secondary School in Tychy is a school which attaches a lot of weight to international cooperation with other institutions. For years the school has been involved in numerous European projects, student exchanges, language camps abroad or hosting foreign visitors. Therefore, the knowledge of foreign languages is a top priority at school, so that all the actions listed above might continue or even proliferate. The main objectives of the project “Foreign languages – a gateway to the school of the future” is to enable school teaching staff enhance their qualifications in areas such as: knowledge of foreign languages, history and culture of foreign countries, using foreign-language teaching materials and new innovative teaching methods. There are six language teachers who will participate in the project (teaching English, German, French) and four Arts or Science teachers (teaching Physics, Polish literature, Ethics, Geography, Mathematics . It is worth mentioning that among them our headmistress and German and French teachers are going to attend English course. The teachers in question are really committed to the school development, but most of all they are organizers and teachers in charge of international trips (exchanges, camps) and authors of new innovative teaching syllabuses for their subjects. In the year of project duration, the participants will take part in courses (one or two week long) related to learning and teaching foreign languages, methodology of teaching and using foreign-language teaching materials. With the help of the school coordinator every participant will find a course appropriate for them and organize their visit. We hope that one of the benefits of the project will be more qualified teaching staff that will be speaking different foreign languages fluently and will use this ability in the classroom conducting their lesson in an interesting and innovative way. We also hope that such well-qualified teachers in the future will be able to prepare students to pass their Matura Exam on the bilingual level as well as international exams. Last, but not least we reckon that the project will enable us to establish international cooperation with new institutions from other European countries. As a result, at school there will be more teachers who will be able to organize international camps and exchanges for students. All in all, the project “Foreign languages – a gateway to the school of the future” will contribute to the school development as a place open for international cooperation, whose real asset will be well educated faculty, speaking foreign languages.
