Date du début: 31 déc. 2015, Date de fin: 30 déc. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The objective of the “Language as a Key to Europe” project is to make an effort and meet the changes, possibilities, trends which are happening in the very school, its surrounding, as well as in the entire European Union. The objectives may be summed up as improving the level of teaching in the institution and making it more European. All of the needs, plans, and actions are to lead to educating young and active citizens of Europe who want to live in accordance with values and guidelines on which the United Europe is based. Most of all, since the number of people wanting to pass German at the upper-secondary school final examination and take part in language contests, the school encountered a need of the best-educated personnel who will prepare the learners at the highest-possible level.Despite the fact that the school employs professionals, they still require frequent contact with the living language. Constant development and improvement of language skills, as in not so many disciplines, is a condition of success. Paradoxically, with the growing number of people who decide to learn German, at the same time a lot of students lack motivation to learn languages. Among others, it is a result of the environmental conditions the learners grow up and are brought up in. Very often they miss the impulse in the closest circle to think seriously of learning and notice the chance for better future. For that reason, school and the teachers need to look for new ways of making the classes more interesting and offer students extracurricular classes.Keeping in mind these and other circumstances the school decided to take up the “Language as a Key to Europe” project which will allow to use well and strengthen the potential of the institution, as well as the teachers working here. The key element of the project is the trip for teachers – leaders of teaching German and the non-academic activities – to German-speaking countries where they will not only take part in a course in reinforcing their skills, but also they will have the opportunity to meet partners for many new projects. 4 selected teachers of English will also join the trip. They are great teacher with long-years of experience who are willing to develop their skills. At the same time, they are very active employees carrying out many extracurricular initiatives. For that reason, both abroad and after coming back they will use the tools provided by the project in the most efficient way and will bring many benefits for themselves but most of all for the school and the students. Moreover, the listed teachers use their language skills also in different ways – for example, one of them cooperates with a publishing company and develops occupational course books in English. Supporting such teachers is an investment which will return in many different ways – it will definitely not wasted. Before the trip, teachers will prepare themselves the best they can so that they use the chance to learn as much as possible already during the trip. Even though the trip is the key element – the most important stage of the project is the actions after the return. These actions are to multiply the effect of the teachers’ trip. Firstly, the gained knowledge, materials and skills are to improve the teaching at school. Secondly, they are to be shared with other teachers so that the entire school and the interested parties gained from the project as much as possible. The entire outline for sharing the knowledge has been planned so the knowledge got to possibly largest group of people. This will include using various tools – direct contact, using IT means, using the school channels and teachers’ contacts. After the teachers are back from Austria and Germany, there will be time to implement and carry out projects in partnership with entities established in Germany and Austria. Thanks to the fact that the project will allow the participants to gain knowledge of acquiring funds for projects and their execution, the task is going to be much easier. They will feel more confident and start carrying out new initiatives with conviction.Building partnerships is one of many long-terms results which were assumed for the project. Others include: building an image and brand of the school attracting talented students, developing in students not only high language skills but also high self-identification values, strong belief in own abilities, awareness of being the citizen of Europe, tolerance and understanding for others. Finally, the project will strengthen the most important factor the school has – teachers who by developing their skills and qualifications, as well as finding professional fulfilment will contribute to creating good atmosphere at school. Everyone will experience it and in long-term it will result in strengthening our school.
