Project: English language – the gateway to the world. A project related to enhancing the quality of teaching in TISiA in Poznań.The principal aim of the project is the implementation of our European Development Plan and as a result the raising of quality standards of teaching in our school. The main element of this plan is to improve the command of English among our teaching staff and as a result also the command of English among our students. The research done in the area of language teaching proves that the competence of the teacher has an significant impact on the students’ achievements. Additionally, students are more motivated to learn foreign languages when they can contact their peers from other countries.The potential participants of the project are the school head master and four other teachers with a great amount of teaching experience and significant professional achievements. We plan to send four teachers to Ireland on an English course at the level A2/B1 and one teacher to United Kingdom on an English course at the level C1 in 2015. In 2016 we plan to send the same teachers to United Kingdom on English courses at the level B1/B2 and C2, respectively. We expect that after completing the chosen courses our teachers will demonstrate not only a greater knowledge of English but they also will use innovative ICT tools in the classroom and will have the experience needed to cooperate in an intercultural/international context. Furthermore, they will be actively looking for partners for future eTwinnig projects and potential school partnerships. We are sure that thanks to the developed professional competences and enhanced English skills our teachers will be able to cooperate more intensively with schools from other European countries. We hope to establish and maintain international school partnerships and students exchange for vocational trainings and internships. We strongly believe that thanks to our participation in international projects our students will not only improve their command of English but also their professional skills and as a result their chances on the labour market.
