Gimnazjum nr 1 im. Jana Pawła II(Secondary school) is situated in Zywiec (south part of Poland).The city has 32.000 inhabitants.Our school was established in 1999 as a result of educational reform.The pupils attending to our school are mostly from Żywiec but the number of pupils from surroundings places is growing by the year .More and more , foreigners become our pupils. The evaluation that has been conducted by the board of education shows that secondary school students trust teachers and perceive the school as a child friendly school. There are there foreign languages at school school was the first school English , German and Russian.Our school was the first school that introduced a teaching system based on a pupil selection into groups (depending on their language level).Every year we teach English with a help of a native speaker.The school is focused on a many-sided development , therefore the teachers use many programs which help thm to enrich their work.All these efforts are to upgrade the quality of education. In the future we are going to sustain a cooperation with Lituania and establish a cooperation with new partners from other countries.Unfortunately , our previous experience shows that teachers had problems to communicate in foreign languages.This two-year project was written to solve this problem. It will help some teachers to improve their language skills and it ease our future communicatio and cooperation with partners within the e-twinning and K2 projects.The most important workes involved in this project are Headmaster , English, Germn Russian ,science and art teachers.They are well qualified and have a lot of work experience.Project goals:-improving language skills and the ability of using multimedia-promoting the school in a local community-improving in the ICT area (Information and Communication Technologies )-acquiring new skills and qualifications enable personal development-establishing an international cooperation in the future (by foregin lannguage teachers as well as other teachers)-social competence development of teachers and students ,-development of better planning skills and time mangemement ,-the raise of quality of group work and individualization of teaching - learning process-introduction of methods of quality team management.To achieve set goals we count on skills improvement of managers - headmaster and chairwomen of subject`s teams (physics and English teachers).Trainning courses not only develop language competence of participants but also their essential interpersonal skills,ie: make contact with other people , team work ,resolve conflicts and communication skills : make contact with other people , team work , resolve conflicts and communication skills : careful listening skill , going on , speaking , delegation of responsibilities.Main project action is concentrated , in the first stage , on the raise of language competence and use of ICT elements during physics ,art and foreign language classes.We are also going to take up recruitment of partcipants , preparing contracts with them and the document Europass Mobility ,organizing trips and travels , keeping in touch with partcipants and training courses organizers and preparing workshops for teachers not taking part in the project.Teachers taking part in the project after completing it will benefit widely.For example fluent communication in English enabling them to exchange experiences with teachers from other countries ,using online programmes during lessons and afterschool clubs , gathering experiences while getting projects ready , using source texts unavailable in Polish.Completing the project influence its participants : students and school socity where teachers work. The results of the project will be : the raise of the level of the language competence making contact with teachers from other countries , what ill result in cooperation in future union projects , learning innovative methods of teaching English , raising interpersonal competence that will contribute to better understanding cultures of other countries.
