1) Background and ObjectivesThe project "Youth, Racism Differences: Memory and Tolerance in European Democracy (JERADIMETODE)" is situated in a series of projects implemented by four small municipalities of four countries of the European Union: Măgherani (RO) Neuviller-la -Roche (FR), Penela (PT) and Skofja Loka (SI). Indeed, these 4 towns have jointly decided to collaborate on European projects, funded or not by the European Union, as a result of their city twinning.Throughout this collaboration, the partners have realised that the transgenerational topic was very important. Indeed, many adults and seniors are committed in the project, they have the knowledge, the know-how, and the skills that must be transmitted. Young people are willing to invest in different areas provided the means and methods are appropriate. That is why it has been decided to achieve a project of youth exchange in order to fulfill some of these aspects by identifying with common values. The theme "Cultural diversity, discrimination, fight against racism and xenophobia" was chosen for two main reasons: as the risks are more present in each and every country, there is an urgency of transmission.2) Themes and contentsa) All the young people will work on the problems of racism and intolerance, basing on the reality of the concentration camp of Schirmecko Memory transmitted by parents and grandparentso Reality transmitted by the young (Struthof concentration camp)o Analysis of the reality on the spotb) Then the young people will study the reality of their commune regarding racism and intolerance.o They themselves determine the selected subjectsc) All of these young people will build knowledge tools to fight against the rising dangers that continue to existo Charter of toleranceo Intervention methodology book3) Number and profile of participantsa) Participating bodieso Town of Neuviller + Silent Partners: High Schools (Lycées) of Schirmeck, Association of the Concentration Camp; Memorial of Alsace-Lorraineo Municipality of Penela + Silent Partner: High school; College of Penela; Associationso - Municipality of Măgherani + Silent Partners: School of Măgherani; association of municipalitieso City of Skofja Loka + Silent Partners: High School of Skofja, Associationsb) ParticipantsEach commune:o 1 group of young people between 13 and 15 years oldo 1 group of young people aged 16 and overo 1 person responsible for each group of young people (it can be a school and / or high school teacher)o 1 project manager for each municipalityo specific experts for the various activities during the exchanges (including teachers)4) Description of activitiesa) Preparatory meeting: o 2 days in Neuviller-la-Roche (FR): Mai 2016: 9 peopleo 2 people per commune: 1 young adult framing staff or project managero Programme: to define the various activities and responsibilitiesb) Exchange of young people: Eight days in Neuviller (FR): July or August 2016: 50 participants.o PT: 12 including framing staffo RO: 12 including framing staffo FR: 14 including framing staffo SL: 12, including framing staff- Programme :o Minutes of the preparatory work achieved in each municipalityo Practical study of Nazism and anti-Semitism: testimonies from people who lived through the period; field study: concentration camp, Alsace-Lorraine Memorialc) Youth Exchange: Eight days in Penela (PT): August 2017: 51 part.o The same young people and/or others who have worked with the first ones in each municipality.- Programme :o Reporting on the work done on issues in relation with intoleranceo Writing a European Youth Charter on Intolerance and Discriminationo Establishing a list of good practices5) MethodologyThis will essentially be an active methodology including a) the creation of questionnaires and collection of experiences: parents, grand-parents, various witnessesb) the exchange of the results (through the Internet)c) field tests:o Traces left by Nazism in Alsaceo Expression of intolerance and discrimination in every communed) sharing experiences in the form of a cataloguee) joint drafting of materials for the futureSome of this work may be included in school activities, thereby involving a greater number of young people.6) Impact and expected resultso Knowledge of the past, transmission and need to maintain memoryo Belief that the European Union was built in reaction to what happenedo Awareness of the existence of intolerance and discrimination and risks of increase in the EUo Instruments to fight these threats to the European citizenship especially for the young7) Long-term Potential Benefitso Awarenesso Activities against racism and intoleranceo Better understanding of issues in the EU in terms of democracy and citizenshi.
