Jean Monnet Module on the European Union and the Contemporary International Migration – an Interdisciplinary Approach
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2019 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The proposed EUMIGRO project is planned as a 3-year coherent short teaching programme in the field of EU studies at Warsaw School of Economics (WSE) in Poland conducted by dr M. Pachocka, a young full-time academic staff member, assistant professor, having obtained her PhD degree less than 5 years ago. The scope of the project covers the situation in EU and its member states concerning the issues connected with contemporary international migration and asylum, as well as related policies at the EU and country levels. The subject of migration and asylum is an important part of EU studies and the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches are crucial to obtain the broad and complex picture in the intricate regional and global reality. At WSE – the most esteemed economic university in Poland – the issues of migration and asylum and other related topics – are still underestimated and underrepresented in teaching, research and other scientific activities, therefore it is an important niche to identify and develop by a young researcher. The EUMIGRO project will create a consistent body of interconnected and interdependent activities done simultaneously with teaching activities at its core. Two new courses “Europe and international migration: an interdisciplinary perspective” and “Immigration situation and immigration policy in the EU member states” together with an innovative curriculum, corresponding to up-to-date research activities performed simultaneously, will be prepared and offered within the project at Warsaw School of Economics in order to reach at least 240 Polish and foreign students during 240 hours within 3 years. Moreover, there will be events (roundtable debates and degree seminars in a form of workshops) and deliverables (the project website, with free and open access to i.a. academic publications and didactic materials) to ensure the project’s multidimensional and consistent implementation, effective impact and long-lasting effects’ multiplication.
