Key points: 200 or more teaching hours per academic year in different level courses (additional to hours dedicated to European integration by the discipline of Contemporary History of Europe); two main research activities, a digital deliverable supporting teaching activities, and an annual debating activity.Background: Regional integration in Europe is part of the discipline "Contemporary History", a specific subject in the curriculum of the Master Degree in Contemporary History and International Relations and a main subject of several optional courses in the Faculty of Philosophy and History, as well as an issue of research works at different academic levels.Rationale: to coordinate existing efforts, capacities and experience for better teaching, research and debate results in EU studies by a single coherent project, as a way to promote these studies at the institution and beyond. Main objectives: to give a consistent approach to EU studies at the institution; to promote detailed and quality EU studies at the institution and beyond through teaching, research and debate activities; to improve the scope and quality of knowledge about EU. Main outcomes and outputs: increased study, research and debate; a better coordination of EU studies, improvement of the quality and detail of teaching activities on EU topics, students better prepared in this field, publication and dissemination of texts, a better and more objective knowledge of the EU and a reference status on EU studies for the institution.Impact will be recognized on the amount of students formed, their academic results and the quality and topics of their working papers; dissemination of research work and their repercussion; participation in and results of academic events organized. A particular indicator of achievement will be an opinion poll, as well as a planned closing seminar.This would be the first Jean Monnet Chair awarded to the University of Havana, and to a Cuban institution.
