The support from the Jean Monnet Action will be used to continue existing activities and to develop new initiatives such as the new series of online video lectures. The existing activities concern first of all the teaching of four courses on the EU in general and on European foreign policy in particular at the University of Leuven (in addition to the course at the College of Europe in Bruges). It is also in this context that the Jean Monnet lectures series and annual debate are situated. The teaching activities are also related to the position of the applicant as Director of the interdisciplinary ‘Master of European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives’ and Co-Director of the ‘Master in European Politics and Policies’. Other related activities are his research on European foreign policy, which is translated in various international publications (including the internationally widely used textbook “The Foreign Policy of the EU”) and in his involvement in various international networks with other Jean Monnet professors (including colleagues from the Asia-Pacific region). The new initiatives involve first of all the development of new teaching activities and new didactical and dissemination tools through the creation of a series of online video lectures on EU foreign policy, as part of a wider audiovisual library on EU foreign policy to be integrated in the Online Resource Guide “Exploring EU Foreign Policy” (www.eufp.eu). A second initiative is to integrate into both research and education the insights obtained through the applicant’s collaboration with several Asian and other non-European Jean Monnet professors, (cf. the project on the ‘Outside-in perspectives in EU foreign policy analysis’). The results of this research project will also be at the heart of the online video lectures which will be made available and also serve as a platform for students and scholars from all over the world.
