Date du début: 1 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 31 août 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Europeanising Coastal regions (EuCoRe) aims at transdisciplinary studies. The question of shaping Europe’s integration future frames the centre’s analysis of the functions and services as provided by Europe’s coastal regions. The University of Oldenburg is embedded in the coastal region of northwestern Germany. Being part of the Dutch-German Frisian transnational coastal setting, this region exemplifies co-emerging structures both in terms of diverse societal groups and ecosystems on land and at sea in Europe. Climatic and demographic changes, nature protection and maritime economic development set challenges for this and other coastal regions in Europe. EuCoRe will use this platform and benefit from COAST´s existing networks.Prof. Dr. Ingo Mose is appointed Academic Director of the Centre of Excellence. He is Jean Monnet Chair ´Europeanising and sustainable regional development´ and Vice-Director of COAST. In team leadership together with four recognized Chairs of social and natural sciences he will lead the Centre’s activities aimed at a wide audience comprising of students, researchers and societal actors. Re-designed and new courses range from a broad spectrum of disciplines and target students from Bachelor´s to PhD level. Lectures and materials will be made available online and communicated via weblog, apps and social media. Guest lecturers and exchange students are major contributors to transnational transfer. International workshops provide ideal environments for science-practitioner interaction on energy transition, biodiversity, ecosystem health and social disparities. Impetus for future research on a harmonized development of Europe´s coastal regions is expected from the final conference.
