Jazykové vzdelávanie (nielen) cez internet
Date du début: 1 oct. 2014, Date de fin: 30 sept. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project “Language learning (not only) via Internet” covered the program countries Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Italy and Sweden. It took place in the town of Partizánske, Slovakia and its surroundings from October 2014 to September 2015. The association Edukácia@Internet hosted four volunteers from four different countries for 12 months. The goal of the project was to connect online language learning with real-life communication involving active participation of the learners. The volunteers formed a very cohesive team. Edukácia@Internet created several free language learning websites (e.g. www.lernu.net for Esperanto, www.slovake.eu for Slovak, www.deutsch.info for German, and lately www.mluvtecesky.net for Czech), but for the volunteers it was as important to develop the acquired knowledge in daily life. Thanks to the particularities of our organisation, the volunteers improved their knowledge of several languages: Esperanto often was the working language, because it was the language all volunteers knew the best and after a year they all know it perfectly. They learned Slovak quite actively, both online and in real life. Other languages that were used include English and the languages of the volunteers. The activities of the project were based on personal communication in the target language or languages and were connected to online education: we organised workshops for language learners and we organised a monthly language café in Partizánske. The volunteers actively helped to organise an international summer school of Esperanto in Martin (the biggest such event in the world, with 200 to 250 participants from approximately 25 countries). Online language courses helped them improve the knowledge they acquired during the individual activities of the project, which makes learning possible even without teachers by means of online educational platforms. The volunteers did not only use our online learning websites, but also actively helped developing them, by testing, translating, etc. The language café, where the participants, mostly young people, had the possibility to communicate in their target language, helped them too and was a good opportunity to establish new contacts with locals. Young people can use the acquired knowledge on the job market and they are motivated to meet people from various countries and cultures. During the project, the volunteers made contact with local inhabitants, acquired organisational competences and gained extensive experience with ICT and foreign language. In addition, they had the opportunity to get to know Slovakia, where they traveled a lot, as well as some neighbouring countries. By presenting the results of the project, E@I motivates local organisations to join the European Voluntary Service.
