The Project : "How can we best lead the great European society? An exchange of experiences of British and Polish schools in order to create, use and propagate an innovative programme of shaping leadership attitudes in students " is a response to the needs and objectives defined by the directors, teachers and students of King David’s Secondary School and The King's School. Each of the project partners will bring in examples of their best practices. The master goal is to create a programme of attitude shaping which is based on three key tools for our schools: the leadership shaping programme (the captain programme), tutoring and the career compass. The exchange of experiences and working methods within the project and their expansion by new components (an entrepreneurship course for students, training in effective team work for teachers) will facilitate development of a totally innovative programme of educational work and of individual competence improvement, which subsequently will be shared with other schools. The other goals are: - Exchange of good practices and experiences of staff in shaping attitudes and developing students’ individual abilities, - Professional development of teachers through the exchange of experiences with staff from the partner school - Emergence of youth leaders, development of captain skills and practice of acquired skills in international groups composed of captains and people led by them - Development of cooperation skills over cultural and ethnic differences, as well as over communication barriers. Both partners have agreed that the project will be attended by all teachers and educators from both partner institutions, and by 24 students of third and second year of each the schools. The criteria for their selection will include language proficiency, presented attitudes, the degree of involvement in extracurricular activities, at least average academic results, prospects about the degree of utilization (as great as possible) of the project results. The cooperation between the partners had already started before the application was submitted. The partners have been in contact by phone and e-mail in order to develop the project. During the project the following activities are planned: - 9 international project meetings - 4 mobility activities for the staff - 4 short-term mobility activities for students (combined group projects) - at least 8 virtual working (project) meetings for young people - Project management and implementation activities: the creation of control tools for time and budget management, budget control and time management, monitoring and evaluation of the quality of project activities and results, evaluation of the achievement of the project objectives and results; mutual sharing of monthly reports - Prevention of potential risks - Ensuring the availability of the project results and the possibility of their use - Propagation of the project results - Continuation of activities and results after the project funding will have finished. Methodology (methods of operation) used during the project include workshops, training courses, coaching courses, discussions, brainstorming, project work method, study visits, observation, activity analysis and documentation analysis. The partners anticipate the achievement of numerous results, described extensively in the application. Here are some of them : - Acquiring new competencies through the exchange of experience with the staff of the partner school - Pursuing the tasks devised by young people in the project (e.g., in areas of environment, cultural heritage, film / journalism / theatre; healthy lifestyle; sport; integration events, etc.) - Breaking down communication barriers - Opening up to other cultures - Acquiring competence in the field of entrepreneurship - Paving the way for further personal and professional development in accordance with the compass career - Creation of the development programme for students, which will include: the Captain programme practiced by The King's School and the career compass (Career Direct) used in King David’s Secondary School, as well as the entrepreneurship course (based on Cash flow) - Making this programme available to a wide audience, by posting it on the Internet . The impact of the project will be visible through the use of the innovative programme in both partner institutions, as well as in other schools. The programme will allow young people to collaborate on the preparation and development of an effective vision for the modern European society and to gain concrete experience in effectively sharing the vision and ideas with others. Long term benefits will be seen in the activities of people who are students today and who in the future will become leaders in their communities and societies. They will be leaders who will promote European co-operation, partnership and integration. In this way, we will provide the best leadership for the great European society.
