Invest in Mobility
Date du début: 1 août 2014, Date de fin: 31 juil. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Keuda Group, Vocational education and training is the 10th biggest training provider in Finland. It is owned by seven municipalities: Järvenpää, Kerava, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Sipoo and Tuusula. The area is within 30-80 kilometres to the north of Helsinki. Keuda offers working life -oriented education and training to the young, the adults and the business life, and development services for the progress of the region. Keuda has vocational education and training (VET) in 11 establishments, or units, in all fields of secondary VET. We have some 7000 students of which ca. 2300 are adults. Our staff amounts to 620 persons, and turn-over in 2012 54 mill.€. International mobility has been carried out for years. However, it is the first time that such a large, multi-sector mobility project is being launched to comprise the entire Keuda Group, all units and sectors of education. The project enables better communication and co-operation between staff and students of our units, and will provide common tools and procedures to plan and carry out the practical work. All in all mobility is applied for 240 persons over years 2014-2016. VET students, adult learners and a small number of special needs students in apprenticeship training will go for periods from 21 days to 6 months. For staff, two types of mobility is planned. During 10-day-visits to a partner school, Keuda's teachers/councellor will job shadow, teach, visit workplaces and companies, and most importantly, go over ECVET practicalities with partner school’s colleagues. For councellors especially career planning is a special topic of interest linked. Also 14-day on-the-job-learning in companies is planned for members of staff. Invest in Mobility -project gathers Keuda’s unit’s international networks into one, rather impressive network of 19 partners from 12 countries. With many of them international mobility has been carried out before, however, mostly by 1-2 of our units. Now the networks are brought forth for everyone, and mobility will be also started within new sectors with the old partners. Also three completely new partners join Keuda’s network. With 8 partners a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed, and ECVET will be put to practice right away. With the newer and/or not yet sp experienced partners Keuda's goal is to sign a MOU by the end of the project. Invest in Mobility –project links to Keuda’s strategic plan for international activities for 2014-2016. As mobility is carried out reciprocally with most of the partners, we will be developing students’ tutoring to hosted students. Also recognition of non-formal and informal learning during international mobility, alongside ECVET practices, will be a topic. It is essential that all the “hidden” skills acquired by students during mobility be recognized, documented e.g. with the Europass, and communicated to employers who value endurance, curiosity and productivity. The paradox is that employers are not yet aware that international mobility is an excellent indicator to find these skills in a new recruit. VET-schools can do a lot to bridge the missing gap.
