Introducing the successful eCity Model in the Hungarian-Romanian border region (eCity Model)

The aim of the project is to create a model for a cross-border, multi-functional info-communication system and service pack, specifically designed for the settlements at the Hungarian-Romanian border region. The planned development reduce the isolation of border villages, and strengthen the communication between neighbouring, and even cross-border, settlements by the help of the e-City Model. The basic idea of the project is that local governments should build up an optical cable network for their settlement or region. Primarily telephone, internet, and cable TV services can be introduced for the members of the network. The general objective of the project is preparation of a cross-border, multi-functional ICT system and service pack, specifically designed for the Hungarian-Romanian border region. Direct beneficiaries:• The leaders and representatives of local governments on both sides of the Hungarian-Serbian border region (there are 36 micro regions in the eligible area in Hungary, and 307 communes in the eligible area in Romania)• Medical institutions, civilian police, energy agencies, energy suppliers, labour market centres in the Hungarian-Serbian border region, etc. – because these institutions and agencies will be given a sustainable solution for providing their services at high quality to the population of the border region through the special services enabled by the City Model, such as Telecommuting, Telemedicine, E-security systems, Intelligent energy, etc.• The two partner organizations' researchers and development engineers who will deal with the project's results – plans and studies (10 persons);• Website visitors: those who wish to inform themselves about the eCity model, and achieved results (10000 persons);• Participants on the conference (50-50 persons).The main specific activities of the project are: preliminary research; modelling and strategy development; pilot project: extension of an existing network from one settlement and micro-region to another region.Other project results: 2 conferences, 3 PR-films about the e-City Model, 1 e-City Model web page, 3 models and studies, 2 marketing documents, 1 legislature-harmonization proposals.
