International Music Week
Date du début: 1 mai 2015, Date de fin: 1 oct. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The "International Music Week" (IMW) is an international youth exchange that gathers in Ettelbruck (L) about 60 young participants aged 13-25 years from several different countries (Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Luxembourg and others) around the theme of music, with the aim to broaden their horizons and enable them to participate in European integration in contact and in collaboration with young people and leaders coming from other European countries. Activities: music workshops; trips, presentations and discussions on the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and its region, discovering other European countries through presentations and rounds of discussions conducted by the young participants, presentations and discussions on the European Union; non-musical workshops (sport, theater, dance, multimedia or other leisure activities). In this project, the music is used as an element of integration to allow young people with different backgrounds and origins to get closer very quickly within a multicultural group. The theme of the music also allows young people to become aware of the deep interactions between different European cultures and to recognize the importance of pluralistic identities in and for the evolution of Europe. The IMW carries values of encounters, cultural and linguistic discoveries, and human and musical exchanges between the young participants and the public. Moreover, the practice of music within an orchestra, a choir or smaller chamber music ensembles - is a typical example of community work to bring together young people from different backgrounds and origins. These young people - who experience in their countries different educational and musical teaching systems from one country to another, with the result that they have very different ways to play music - must develop a sense of belonging to the group to harmonize and create homogeneous ensembles. During the musical workshops, emphasis is therefore placed on the practice of team play (and not on the individual play), in order to succeed to form homogeneous ensembles - a symphony orchestra, a choir and small ensembles of chamber music - despite the differences in cultures and teaching structures that exist between the different groups of participants.
