The cultural diversity of the student body is one part of the FES. 20% of the students of the FES have a migration background. The implication of this is that we have a variety of attitudes towards life, a multitude of values and a great variety of ways of looking at, interpreting and dealing with situations. So we, who work as teachers with multicultural groups, see a chance for our pedagogical work of setting in motion an intercultural opening up and development of our school. Therefore we established acquiring intercultural competence as one of the most important objectives of our school development in our school program.A second important aspect of our school development is competence oriented teaching. The European Qualification Frame EQF provides the frame for a transnational dialog in vocational education which will contribute substantially to innovative didactic and methodological concepts on the school and teaching level.By realizing these central objectives we have great hopes of improving the quality and efficiency of vocational education. Transnational school partnerships in Europe support the realization of these objectives. In addition we have the following objectives with this project: - a substantial improvement of the learning environment and learning policy- a better understanding of and a wider interest in foreign cultures to encourage cross-cultural awareness- an agreement on the validation and recognition of professional qualifications in the context with the European Qualifications Frame EQF- a substantial agreement on the implementation of the instruments of ECVETespecially regarding the settings of the "Learning Agreement" and "Outcomes" of the trainees.- a significant impact on international mobility and international experience- strengthening the self-confidence and fostering the capability of trainees with migration background to manage the challenges of a bicultural identity (Cultural Indentity Formation)This "Mobility Project" is aimed at two different groups: Five teachers plus one accompanying person from our school form the first target group (Staff-mobility). The second target group (Learner mobility) consists of 8 trainees who attend the Dual Vocational Training program in electrical and mechanical technology or in information and communication-technology (ICT).The teachers are teaching vocational subjects like electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, metal technology and information and communication technology (ICT). They will work together with their Turkish counterparts according to their professional subjects. Jobshadowing and team-teaching comprises the most part of their internship abroad. When the internship starts the trainees will be attending the second or third year of their training program. For this group a four-week internship is planned, which will take place at the partner school (one week) and in the company (three weeks). On successful termination of their intership both groups will receive the Europass. Our partner school is the Sultanahmet Endüstri ve Teknik Meslek Lisesi in Istanbul-Fatih. It is a technical high school offering 1600 students a four-year training program in technical professions in which the fourth year runs as a dual VET-model in cooperation with companies. On the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed in February this year (2014) by the Turkish and the German head of the school board, we agreed on long-term fruitful mutual partnership for capacity building. We are going to focus on the following activities:First group of participants (Staff):- job shadowing and team teaching with the Turkish counterpart- development of competence-oriented teaching and approaches - drawing up of "Learning Agreements and Outcomes", use of ECVET tools- establishing an internet platform like the use of BSCW and Moodle in the information and communication technology- setting up the PM for the internship of trainees for 2015- monitoring and coaching of trainees Second group of participants (trainees):- participation in a four-week internship in Istanbul-Fatih- attending technical classes at the partner-school and working in a joint project in the first week of the internship- the following three weeks of internship: In accordance with their profession the trainees will undertake a company field practice in the industry of Istanbul.- the specific activities are determined by the agreed Learning Agreement and Outcomes- the trainees are committed to document all their activities in an internship reportThe Turkish partners will assist the trainees in the function of a mentor during their internship. With this “mobility project” our school will head and develop substantially towards intercultural opening up and it will help us to establish the European dimension/idea firmly in our school.
