In the course of our Commerce students' Baccalauréat Professionnel training - secondary education vocational qualification - we intended to offer them the opportunity to carry out a work experience in another European country.
On the occasion of a contact seminary - Bordeaux, France, November 2008 - we got to meet representatives from equivalent institutions to ours, in terms of structure and training courses, among which the Vocational ant Technical State school in Kartuzy, Poland. We, then, agreed, with our Polish colleagues, on a partnership mode which materialized - within the framework of Leonardo Da Vinci Mobility programme - by trainee exchanges. Polish students were placed at Bergerac retail businesses (June 2010: ten Polish participants), then in Kartuzy, three times (February 2011: eight French participants, November 2012: five participants, November 2013: eight participants). Sixteen Polish students will, acording to the same terms, take advantage out of work placements in France, in September 2014.
Thanks to those experiences and aware of what is really at stake, for beneficiaries, in terms of professional increase in value and education to European citizenship, we intend to sustain and continue developing that partnership.
The next step of our collaboration would consist in providing eight of our students with a mobility opportunity to Poland, in November 2014, as well as welcoming twelve Polish students in Bergerac, in September 2015.
As in previous projects, they would carry out a training period within local shops, for four weeks.
Our recent experiences and intense and ongoing collaborative work with our Polish conterparts allow us to guarantee the participants the best conditions for realising professional objectives, specified by academic curriculum, inherent in student training.
Besides purely practical and technical aspects, in terms of work placement approach, we also wish to favour the discovery of a different culture, a different lifestyle and a different language, in a spirit of sharing. We, also, intend to value the use of language skills in a professional context as well as in socialising situations.
Our reasoning is part of the particular school context of a "European Section" - device in which English teachers and professional training ones take part together, and the major purpose of which is to make students sensitive to the discovery of otherness through a more intense study of foreign languages and their use in professional situations.
For many years, within that framework, we have developed mobility projects to other European countries: Great - Britain, Germany and Italy.
The collaboration we intend to intensify with our Polish partners is part and parcel of that context. As a matter of fact, we wish to capitalize on experience debreifing in order to define common strategies and work tools from which institutions, as well as participants, might take advantage, in a spirit of continuity including a clearly upgradable nature of the exchange.
We have defined, beyond professional experience per se, work options which consist in drawing up reference documents - with the help from host organizations - dealing with Polish specificities in terms of commercial practice, that we could use in the prospects of future mobilities, especially as regards student further education projects that we intend to boost up. That reasoning seems highly relevant with respect to school context and consistent with lifelong learning prospects.
Our application puts us in a position to confirm the decidedly Europe oriented nature of our school project by intensifying Lycée Jean Capelle's International Action work group activites, which is dedicated to conception, undertaking and advertising of mobility programmes, as well as finalization of transnational related projects, such as Virtual e-commerce, the aim of which is to generate interaction between schools and placement companies and to involve students who would not get a chance to take part in a mobility experience.
