InterACT for Tolerance
Date du début: 1 janv. 2016, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Discrimination has been a constant throughout human history and this project stems from the desire to encourage unity between peoples. Our dream is to promote the harmony between diverse communities irrespective of age, sex, sexual orientation, race, beliefs, ability and any other socially constructed differences amongst human beings. These values, which lie at the heart of the European Union, will be imparted by bringing together a group of youths from five different countries to participate in this project. “Learning through Sport” is the approach chosen to deliver the non-formal activities in order to reach our three objectives namely, intercultural education, inclusion and equity, health and wellbeing. The participant population (sixteen+ years) includes youths from Malta, Poland, Germany, Finland and Romania. The year-long project consists of two youth exchanges taking place in Malta and in Poland. A total of sixty participants will come together to experience physical activities and sport, and other experiential activities promoting values such as inclusion, tolerance, and conflict resolution. The selected activities during both exchange visits can be grouped into four categories, namely physical activities and sports, “Learning though Sports” activities, workshops which address both intercultural barriers and gender issues, and other activities which non-formally address the intercultural objectives. Preference is being given to experiential learning by providing a mixture of activities, creating non-judgemental space in which the participants can reflect and express themselves, deriving meaning from the activities, allowing space for the discussion and re-examination of values, hence giving them a global perspective. This learning experience therefore aims to educate about democratic participation, human rights, equity (one of the objectives of the Strategic Framework – Education and Training), social inclusion (one of the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy and the European cooperation in the youth field), discrimination, cultural diversity, gender issues and conflict resolution. The participant youths will further improve their employability through exemplary experience for work, social involvement and democratic participation. The objectives also target possible self-growth for the participating leaders through the sharing of good local practices and in helping change their own perspectives which in turn will benefit the current and future youths they work with.
