For being up to date it is important to look at what is going on, not only in Germany. Our kids should be fit for the European market too. So as teachers for English we are interested in coming together with European colleagues and in getting new or other ideas of teaching methods. Getting better in the English language ourselves is - of course- also important every time. There is no better way than going to a country where English is spoken. So we were very happy when we got the information about the possibilty to attend an intensive course for English teachers in Scotland. It would be nice for us to meet European colleagues, to improve our language skills, to learn more about Scottish culture and to get new ideas for our English lessons. For the time being two English teachers of our secondary school (where pupils have to do an exam in English) want to take part in this course. We hope to gain positive experiences regarding the above mentioned points. Our first aims are to come and stay in cantact with European colleagues, to get better in English, to collect impressions of British customs and traditions, to take over new ideas of teaching. Then of course we hope to bring motivation into our classrooms, to raise interest for a classtrip to Britain, for attending an English summer school for teenagers or a youth exchange, for being open- minded to the new Europe. Last but not least we will give a feedback to other colleagues of our school and the schools nearby. We hope to be able to motivate other teachers for using such projects.
